Just got off the phone with a friend in HR in St. George. At a meeting this morning they were advised to prepare for interviewing of Crew Support Personnel. They were told ASA Dispatchers and Scheduling dept people would be offered preferential interview slots.

He was told to plan early fall interviews for position openings after the new year. SkyWest will take over crew support functions in January '07.

Looks like the beginning of the end for the GO.

I wonder what they are going to do with the Puzzle Palace.

ALPA - are you there? Is anyone home?

Combining of GO operations and transferring airplanes sounds a whole lot like operational integration to me.

Perhaps it is time to put together a merger committee.

Pogue, I don't necessarily agree with some of your posts, but that avatar is the funniest thing I have seen in quite a while.

And I watched tomestone yesterday. I drank my Makers Mark and tried to shoot my foot off imitating Doc's Cup, ahh gun slinging.....

"Why Ike, are we not friends anymore? I just don't believe I could on not know we weren't friends."

and

"Are we cross?"

1. I pray they don't hire any of them.

2. Good riddance.

3. Save millions in lease payments to the owner.

End of the puzzle palace

Better yet- maybe St George will

1) hire most of them
2) fire all of them when they realize how bad they perform on the job 2 weeks later

Revenge is best served cold........

Doc: Yes, but there's just something about him. Something around the eyes, I don't know, reminds me of... me. No. I'm sure of it, I hate him.

Doc: It seems poker's just not your game, Ike. I know: let's have a spelling contest!

What a great movie!

Redroof Inn. They are leasing one conference room and one double smoking room for all who remain. Bryan gets the bed by the window.

I had heard that this was mostly done to consolidate parking on-airport. Don't know if this means we're losing Lot 3, but they've been saying that for years anyway.

If ASA leaves suddenly, the G.O. is going to look like the Skydome after Katrina.

Management whipsaw? 'Bout time!

Maybe they should just save more money and outsource crew scheduling to India. Floyd?

This may be true. I know that they are looking at getting rid of Lot 3 and Lot 2, and putting everyone in the NW hangar lot. EPA cleanup costs were supposedly what was holding up the move.

No no no, not the Northwest Airlines hangar, but the old Delta hangar at the northwest corner of the airport. The one next to the GO with the old battered AirTran 737 next to it.

Ok people, The rumor was that the Delta North hangar had enough office space for ASA to vacate the GO, those saving rent in the ivory tower. Also get much needed hangar space out of the deal. Haven't heard anything in a few months about it though.

This will prob. be like what we had at the Wholly Owned at UAIR. During Chapter 11 #1, they figured out that there was no reason to have three different payroll, and admin. orgs, so they created the masterpiece that is The Shared Services Org. (sarcasim).

It was/is(?) a nightmare...and the people that worked there had to learn three different contracts, four if you included Mid Atlantic (RIP) etc. so they would always get things wrong. The result was you never got paid correctly and if you wanted to complain you could never get a live person to air your frustrations to. In fact, if you called your company to say, my 401(k) is wrong, or I didn't get paid, etc. the company would tell you: "I isn't our problem, call the SSO." So you would and the rude sounding voice mail you always got would say "we'll call you back" and it was always a lie.

I'm sure it will be the same for us, we still won't get paid correctly and the lines will still be designed poorly, however, the cost structure for the company will be lower, as they will all be over "on the west side" and we will be calling Utah, and opposed to "the ATL."

I doubt dispatch would go over there, that is an FAA function...and very close to single carrier status. Mesa does this, so does Eagle, and those labor groups are all one flying on different cert. If you have combined ops. with differnt cert. I think the Feds are more receptive to a combined OCC. Even at UAIR, they kept those Part 121 ops things in their respective hq's.

I think all the original post is really trying to say is that when SkyWest hires for more crew schedulers and dispatchers, that those currently employed with ASA will get preferential hiring status should any of them be looking to move to St. George and work for SkyWest Airlines instead. Not combining the two DX offices.

If I were at the GO I would be getting my resume up to date. Skywest would be stupid to keep the GO going just look at their performance.

Plus you can find better help in SLC. You can't find any good employees in ATL, just look at the GO and the airport.
