Does anyone know anything about upcoming classes at ASA? When?
I got the good letter 2 weeks ago and was wondering what the rest of the process is. Will they call you when they put you in a pool? Just curious how long the entire process takes after you get the conditional employment offer. How long does it take for them to get al the background checks done? Just sitting and waiting here (I know a lot is happening at Delta).

Any response from folks who have gone through this process would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

ASA Hiring

Well congrats!
Now you get to sit back and wait for that phone call.
I got mine at 7pm.
ASA should call you with a class date in the next month or two (considering their hiring schedule does not change.
The backgorund check is at the mercy of the government, but for most people it is done within 2 weeks.
Once you get a class date, you will be sent a packet of information about what to bring to class, and more paperwork to fill out.
They provide a hotel room at the Red Roof while in training.
There is not much to study before you start class.
Just show up with a flight case, FAR's, certificates, passport and a good attitude.
Rumor says that they are still running 20 people (1 class) per month, and possibly 2 classes in December.
Congrats again.

It's been awhile since I heard any good rumors, but the last I heard was at least one class of 20 a month until the middle of next year, at least. I know they've hired 150 or thereabouts since they started the first class in March, with no end in sight really.

Hey, thanks guys for the replies!

BigPappa,

The company also has no idea of how many pilots are not making the move with the closing of the DFW base. Lots of people (myself included) are leaving ASA. I am actually getting ready to go to my 3rd day of g/s with FlexJet as we speak. For the last 3 weeks of my job at ASA I couldn't walk into the crew room in DFW without people asking me how to get on at FlexJet.

Also, there are WAY to many people that are convinced that they will be able to commute from DFW-ATL at ASA. Most of these people have never commuted and have NO IDEA what that experience will be like. Unfortunately, I forsee many of those people being terminated for not being able to get to work on time.

Because of all of these things, I forsee at lot of hiring in the near future at ASA, and that will continue until the b/k and the cancellation of the 25 CRJ's for next year (my opinion). Then there will be stagnation to a level never seen at ASA.

I hope the best for everyone at ASA, the employees are what keep that airline going, despite managements best efforts to screw everything up. I have never worked at a company where management seemed to go out of their way to cause pain and suffering to the employees. Good luck to everyone at ASA, especially the DFW based employees.

That sounds like good news for us new-hires. Seems like a good time to be getting onboard with so many people exiting and new planes (maybe) coming.

Wondering what the last 3 years have been if not stagnant...

My very foggy Crystal Ball thinks that ASA will convert at least some of the 25 CRJ200 orders to 700's as a result of the bankruptcy and current negotiations to keep Delta floating. Just being pragmatic - anything that helps Delta and helps mainline pilots will likely be agreed to.

Delta will declare bankruptcy and focus on filling the gap between the 50 seat RJ's and 140 seat MD88's. The Embraer jets will 99% certain be operated by mainline and the RJ will feed the network and go after high yield niche passengers.

That can't be true! My fortune cookie said that good things would happen to me...in bed.
Nice one DI! For kicks I also use:

...in prison

...in the cockpit

...in groundschool

my $.02 - Don't know about the next class, but I do know they (ASA) advertised for FOs on climbto350 yesterday.

Good luck all.

If ASA wasn't planning on getting the 25 CRJs they would not be hiring like mad.

Think about it... there are a total of 103 reserve lines in DFW next month, almost as many as hard lines. Yet they're still hiring 20 a month. It would be easy enough to take a month or two off and let the DFW guys catch up, but they're still going full-speed ahead.

You will see alot of those guys TDY'd to ATL for sure. There are only @ 8-9 F/Os on reserve in ATL for Nov!! Its going to be ugly!!

BigPappa,
I have a former f/o that has an interview next month. He has everything on aviationinterviews.com, but I was wondering if there was anything else out there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
