DEFINITION- Propaganda is a specific type of message presentation directly aimed at influencing the opinions of people, rather than impartially providing information. Literally translated from the Latin gerundive as "things which must be disseminated,". Strictly speaking, a message does not have to be untrue to qualify as propaganda, but it may omit so many pertinent truths that it becomes highly misleading.

Historically, the most common use of the term propaganda is in political contexts; in particular to refer to certain efforts sponsored by governments, political groups, and other often covert interests. Individually propaganda functions as self-deception. Culturally it works within religions, politics, and economic entities like those which both favor and oppose globalization. At the left, right, or mainstream, propaganda knows no borders; as is detailed in the opening chapter of Roderick Hindery's book, Indoctrination and Self-Deception or Free and Critical Thought? Not to be overlooked is the link between propaganda, indoctrination, and intimidation of workgroups.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why are we being subjected to Tutts letters at work, in the mailbox, AT HOME, and on FLICA? When I subscribed to FLICA I was told it was a bidding/software tool, not a forum for further abuse and managements forums.

I don't like paying for services that pi#$ me off.

We need to file a group grievance to stop this kind of abuse.

ALPA, are you listening??????

You don't pay for flica, so the company can do as it cares. There isn't even an LOA on the issue of electronic bidding. If you are paying for flica access at home, now you have paid to bring that into your home. The fact remains however, that you are not forced to buy the anywhere access. I'll admit it's a pretty cheap way to get at employees. Remember where you work, and vote to strike. Later-

Last time I checked, they have been deducting money from my paychecks for six years now. I understand how it works, my point is that this is unprofessional and an improper use of a third party bidding service.

Of course it's lame. Just have an idea whom we are dealing with. The way I see it, we have four options:

Option 1: Strike

Option 2: Strike

Option 3: Strike

Option 4: Run for the hills

Yes, for the second time now, I understand what I am paying for and how it works. I think most new hires could figure that one out. (Not trying to offend the new hires, its just true that there are many things the company does not teach you).

Lets not miss the forest for the trees guys.

The point is that its an unacceptable forum for propaganda.

four options to vote for:

1) Strike
2) Strike
3) Strike
4) Strike

Just because we vote to strike, management knows better than most of the pilot group how difficult it is to be released by the NMB to actually GO on strike.

Then we keep moving ahead on our currnet contract, with a bunch of disgruntled, disloyal employees. A managements dream.

I prefer to vote for a contract that realistic not some Alpa wet-drean

I'll bet you pay top dollar at the car dealership also, Kooter. Of course we are not going to get exactly what they are proposing- its called negotiation for a reason.

I thought I had blocked your posts- guess I'll have to do it again.

What is a wet-drean anyway- is that like a steam clean of the carpet? We need some of that in the pilot lounge.

You know, assuming that you are really a pilot, I hope that I am never forced to fly with you. Talk about wet dreams, you are certainly that for management.

At least Tutt actually speaks to people. Only way I find out about anything alpa does is on this site.

Then you are trying to not be informed. ALPA sends mail to your house, e-mail if you provide them with your address, pilot to pilot volunteers, and you are ALWAYS welcome to call your status rep. But you don't want to know what the union does, or what it stands for. All you want to do is be a management shill.

SuperKoot-

So far I have seen nothing that resembles a lucid argument from you. You make inflammatory remarks and continue to attack ALPA without offering anything empirical to back it up. Do you have a problem with ALPA? Then back up your attacks with valid input. Otherwise, to ignore you go.

I am placing you on my ignore list. If you have anything reasonable to say from this point, then feel free to PM me.

You must not be looking hard enough, i've never had a problem getting in touch with a P2P, or status rep.

Two questions...
1) Are you saying that the majority of guys would not like to have the Alert Bulletins back on FLICA as it is not part of the "bidding" process?

2) Are you saying that ALPA does not also spin and send propaganda to our homes and e-mail?

We may not like the letter, but we need to grow up and not act like babies when we see something that offends us. We do live in a free country and the right to free speech assumes that we also have the right, and quite frankly the responsibility, to be offended every once in a while and take it like a man.

If you don't like the propaganda on FLICA than don't click on it! It's not like crewtrack where you must read the propaganda before you log in.

Good idea, John, I knew better than to look at it. Just tired of being bombarded with crap from them.

Part of the game brother. Don't let it get to you.

They are silly little men playing silly little games. They are just transparent amateurs using all the tricks their lawyers give them.

We need to borrow a few pages from the AFA and do those CHAOS strikes on certain days at certain times. Better than walking out completely. Strike vote coming soon, voting YES.

Yeah, like he did last week at the G/O? You know, when he blew up on a pilot, infront of the management staff (staff meeting).

Only way you can find out anything about ALPA is because you're not a pilot. Therefore, you don't get the ALPA emails, letters, nor access to the ALPA web site. Now, get back to your little office at the G/O, get off the internet, and do something productive you little mgt puke.

This post by SuperPooper is hidden cause he is a complete Sell Out and not an ASA Pilot.

That's cause you are not an ALPA member, TOOL. If you were you would get all the info that members get.
