Monthly draw down - to be out by the end of the year.

The DFW base is not "moving" to SLC. The overwhelming majority of all DFW pilots will be voluntarily or involuntarily displaced to Atlanta. There are currently only around 60 - 70 positions per seat (CRJ-700 only) available in Salt Lake as per the last award, and the finals went senior in both seats. In other words around 140 or so out of 1700 will be in SLC. I've been here 3.5 years and would not have made the final award for FO in SLC had I bid for it, although I plan to when I can hold it. We are adding significant new service out of Cincinatti and Tampa (although less here) but all crews will be ATL based and rotate through out of Delta's new "super-hub." If you come to ASA, do not expect to get Salt Lake as a domicile any time soon. Of course, in this business, things can change suddenly and without warning. Just ask the scores of crewmembers or so that I know that finally picked up and bought a home in Dallas within the last year...

No. Again, all crews will be ATL based and rotate through CVG and Tampa out of Atlanta. There will be two bases, ATL and SLC. Hope that helps.

Fins,

What kind of monthly draw down are you talking about? So far all the awards will have people displaced on 1/31/05. A lot of us are wondering how the company will handle this since the flying has already started shifting. Next month there will be almost no reserve coverage in ATL, while a bunch of DFW folks will be on reserve.
It should be interesting!

ASA Displacments

Yea I went ahead and bid for ATL because I wanted to be closer to home and had no reason to be out in DFW anymore. Was thinking I'd get shifted for Nov and was suprised when the awards came out saying that they are moving planes but not pilots. There will only be like 11 reserve lines in ATL and 50 in DFW. I guess I'll be shuttling back and forth to ATL to run trips out there with all the other reserve guys and gals from DFW. Do you guys think they won't move anyone till Jan? Doesn't make sense to me.

I would hope that they have the sense to start moving people to ATL before the close-down date, but you never know with this company. My WAG is that a lot of the reserve pilots will either get TDY'd to ATL for some time, or maybe they will build a lot of relief lines that go DFW-somewhere-ATL, then work in the ATL system for a day or two before you come back.

Or, maybe they really don't need many pilots as they drop down the flights. I could see them paying pilots to sit reserve all month and never get called, but the airplanes have to go somewhere, right? So it may be busy for us, who knows.

Does anyone know if they are going to stage us for several days out of TPA or just start/end a pairing in atl and pass through....

Hey, this is just rumor (and not even from a reliable source). Just wondering if anyone else has heard the same.....that SLC is just temporary - just a place to put airplanes until something else is worked out.

Believe me, I am not trying to start anything. I don't really believe it myself....was just wondering.

Nothing is for sure in this business as everyone knows but I would think that is pretty much unfounded for now...

No Delay - I've also heard that and have been advised not buy any real estate out there for right now. However, as mentioned above, no one really knows for sure.

Hah can't wait to find out after I place an offer on this house next week here in the hot-lanta that half of us junior 50-seat guys are going to be displaced to SLC in febuary...j/k

The rumors in this business just amaze me sometimes. I highly doubt SLC is "temporary". Everyone predicts growth there. It would be a whole lot cheaper to run the lines through ATL and maybe a midpoint somehwere or even TDY some people there instead of going through the costs of a new domicle.

The lines in DFW show some TPA flying, no overnights there, passing through ATL, do a day of TPA-HSV, TPA-CAE, etc. and then eventually get back to DFW.
