ASA, ALPA discuss contract extension
ASA has asked the Air Line Pilots
Association (ALPA) for a two-year
extension to its current collective
bargaining agreement. The request comes
as ASA prepares a response to Delta
Connection, Inc.'s request for proposal
(RFP) for up to 45 new growth airplanes
to be delivered beginning in 2005.
An extension of the current ALPA
contract to September 2004 would ensure
that ASA's cost structure remains
competitive and would enhance the
overall attractiveness of ASA's bid for
growth. ALPA is expected to respond to
ASA's request by Dec. 5. ASA will
submit its bid for growth to Delta
Connection, Inc. by Dec. 15.
ASA and ALPA have been in direct
contract negotiation since September
2002.
I thought ASA was only suppose to get 15 CR7's next year. But this is even better. What would be at stake if ASA pilots extened there contract so that they could get this growth?
