How difficult is it to hold a line with ASA or CHQ? I have a buddy of mine in ATL and says it is nearly impossible to hold a line there. Is it any easier in DFW and if so what kind of time frame would a new hire with ASA be looking at?

Same question for CHQ drivers? What are your junior bases and what kind of time would a new hire be looking at before being able to hold a line?

Thanx in Advance...:D

DFW is by far the junior crew base, and will probably see almost all of our new growth. ATL is stagnant and holding a line for a junior guy is pretty difficult.

Time frame? Who knows, with very little growth in ATL, reserve time is unlimited. Dallas is moving faster. We are supposed to start hiring again in February, so perhaps this will help with those on reserve.

Reserve at ASA is hard time, Crew Sched. makes it as miserable as they possibly can.....our new contract is aimed directly between their eyes. If we totally revamp scheduling and the reserve system, then it's likely senior guys would bid reserve (with a 6, 8, 12 hour call out) while junior guys start holding lines.

From my worm's eye view, I'd say pretty easy. My May 03 class has about three people on RSV still (me included), all in STL. AFAIK, every other base where I have classmates, those folks have lines, and decent ones at that.

Still praying that a new west coast commutable base opens up.

I'll have a line in LGA in February...that's after 2 months on reserve.

It depends if you consider a relief line a hard line or not. It really isnt, as you still have many days on reserve, but you have line holder priveledges. In ATL/FO on the RJ reserve is sitting over two years. Yes, two years.

1 year and two mos. at ASA.......on reserve. I have been called 2 times to fly in the past 74 days.

3 1/2 years with ASA, 2 1/2 years on reserve, 1 1/2 in ATL as CL65 FO & E120 CA and 1 year in DFW as a CRJ CA with no end in sight.

Based in DFW. Dont come to ASA. It sucks! There will never be growth here again, as Delta has discovered the "CONTRACT CARRIER!!!" Why spend another dime on Comair & ASA when you can farm it out to the lowest bidder.

didnt delta just announce that 20 jets will be going to ASA? isnt that growth?

Flame bait on another thread. There has been no announcement here (at ASA) or in any of the aviation news sources. Originally the announcements were supposed to be by the end of Dec, but now may be the end of Q1-04. Deliveries aren't until late Q1-05, so there's no hurry for an announcement when they can be used for negotiations.
