Any pilots at Mesaba notice how "hostile" it is getting between us and the employees i.e gate agents, rampers, FAs, etc... ????

For example, the other day I showed up at the gate just like any other flight and the gate agent began to b!tch me out in front of all of the passengers about how she thinks the flight crews are showing up late intentionally to delay flights, and eventually it led to her complaining how she's going to lose her job next Friday because we're demanding too much money. I said nothing in response, noted her name, smiled and thanked her for letting me go to the aircraft. I later wrote up an incident report and dropped it off at a supervisor's desk, of course assuming it will probably be thrown away, but also making a copy so I can drop off another next week if I don't hear anything back.

There's alot of potential flamebait on this board and we must ignore it. We may get hostile flamebait such as Skywest rolling in and taking over our flying. We will also get sympathy flamebait from supposed mechanics.

In all cases just ignore it, period. Read the strike manual p.12 Management tactics. We're living it right now.....

Keep a copy of yours or someones FO paycheck, and when you get an attitude from a gate agent, pull out the pay stub and compare with the gate agents. That should shut him or her up.

Pilots should not be the lowest paid employee at the company.

Who should be the lowest paid then?

That's easy, the employees that require the least amount training and expertise and the least amount of responsibility.

Example: Gate agents, rampers, and FA's. No experience required, short training, and compared to pilots, little responsibility. These people have an important jobs, but a starting ramper should not make more than a new hire FO. A gate agent with 10, 15, or 20 years should make more than a new hire FO though.

Most of the gate/ramp agents I know support the pilots efforts 100%. We hope you guys get what you deserve.
XJ has the best pilots in the industry, no doubt, and its time you are paid for it.

I have seen absolutely no pilots showing up late for flights intentionally, thats a joke. Our pilots are the height of professionalism.

Go get 'em boys!

I agree, gdub. Our empoyees are top notch throughout. It is only the jerks that stand out, but luckily at Mesaba, those types graduate into a management or training position because they hate their jobs but are unemployable in any other industry.

Good luck guys - stay strong! You have a lot of support from the pilot community. Regarding the gate agent and her unprofessional attitude, you handled the situation perfectly. Good job - and follow up to make sure she is, in fact, canned. Nobody needs that type of behavior in this service business - especially in front of nervous passengers... Unacceptable.

XJMXTECH your an idiot....shut up.

Now as far as seeing if he is the same guy as Mesaba2425.

Just asked a moderator to check the IP adress for each and see if they match.

My checkbook is out and I am ready to write. Good luck, guys!

I am a Mesaba employee (ground) and have been amazed how things have been running since the furlough notices have gone out. I feared a lot of bickering between ground crew and flight crew....but things have gone off "business as usual" (I have heard of a few incidents - but that is expected). I want to thank the crews for their professionalism throughout this, and let them now that they can expect the same from us.

Good luck with the negotiations, and let's hope they get a deal done in a swift manner!

I'm a CSA for Mesaba at AEX. I support the pilots 110%...it really is a shame that as a newhire CSA, I make almost as much as a newhire FO. Well, not quite as much, but you get the picture. Kinda sucks that I got my furlough notice during my first week on the job, but as an aspiring pilot (1000+ Total/120+ AMEL), I hope Mesaba's pilots get what they deserve. I hope to fly for Mesaba one day because every pilot I have met since working here has been nothing less than a top-notch professional. I definitely want to be a part of this excellent pilot group. Good luck Mesaba pilots! No hard feelings from this soon-to-be-furloughed ramper...like gdub said, go get 'em boys!
