The ball-and-chain and I are planning a trip to Europe and are interested in renting an apt. in Paris for a week, or so. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

BTW, why in the hell did they take the classifieds out of the back of ALPA Magazine??

I just got back from Paris. Not sure if it will help, but I found a great hotel for about 65 euro a night by le Gare de Nord (major train/metro stop). It's called the Relais de Paris Republique, very close to La Place de Republique.

Do a web search. There is a retired United pilot that has some apartments for rent in Paris. I contacted him in the summer but they were already booked.

TP

The UAL Captain with the apartments in Paris is at www.aero-marine.com

I'd also check craigslist. Try newyork.craigslist.org or paris.craigslist.org Click on "Vacation Rentals" If you're feeling adventurous and want to stay in Paris for free click on "housing swap" and you'll find people who will let you stay in their place if they can stay at yours. Probably won't work too well if you don't live in a major metro area.

Good luck

There are numerous realitors in CDG who offer short or long term rentals. Just do a search on "Paris rentals" on Yahoo. Several will come up. Au revoir!TC

Call me hard nosed, but I wouldn't go to France if they paid me. Our boys and girls in Iraq are taking more heat than they deserve thanks to the Frogs, so I for one won't spend a wooden nickel on them. Do a web search for "Apartments for Rent" AND "Spineless Pacifists" and maybe it will find something for you.

Right. Good thinking. It's the French's fault!

As long as that makes you feel like you have a handle on it.

So how was the trip??? Seems like you got a great location. 65/nite is a great deal!

The trip was great. Any misconceptions about the French were quickly dispelled after walking around a bit and talking with some of the locals. I think speaking some French helped tremendously. I was really bummed I only had three days to spend there! Paris is better experienced if you spend a month there or more in my opinion! Can't wait to return.

The best part was one night sitting in a Canadian bar ("The Moose", on Rue de Quatre Vents) with three American girls who lived in Paris... halfway through the night we all kinda looked at each other and said, "This just doesn't seem right..." :)

......and then what????

How'd you just get back from Paris??? You were just hired at XJT? Are you going out of the country between reserve days?

I hate you! :)

Just don't try to rent a place in Tuscany. There is absolutely nothing to rent there.

Bob Cobb

They're passed down from generation to generation. There's really nothing available. :)

I had two days off, then one day on, then two days off... as a commuter, that was definitely being personal dropped! So I had 5 days off and decided to fly over to Paris. Why not?

Next time I'm either going to South America or Ireland.

You and 3 American chicks at a bar in Paris. Sounds right to me... You can't leave us in suspense like that...
