Appointment Date and AMS Date

I was appointed on Oct. 7th and was told to expect an AMS class date for Jan 12, 2004 2 weeks after my appointment. I've been told to expect to leave on previous dates and I don't want to start making plans to leave based on someone's assumption. For those that have been appointed how long of a wait did you have between the time you swore in and your AMS class date.

patience and persistance

Swore in on Sept 23rd '02....Was told to expect a date around Spring '03, then Oct '03, then June '04, I've since been told that my unit will try to get me into the next available class. I wouldn't expect anything right away. My advice, be persistant with your unit, don't let them forget about you. You wouldn't beleive the number of people that have to put their signature on you paperwork before you get your ams date.

around the time I was hired, sep 96, waited over two years from swear-ing,(ha) and AMS! then 6-7 months till UPT, keep your day job, BUT!!, it was worth it . wheres your unit?

It will definitely be worth it! I could not have asked for a better unit; after having the chance to talk to everyone at drill I thank God I stumbled in the right door. I visited a couple different units(fighter, air refueling) and the herk community is where I definitely belong. I'm just frustrated that I can't begin working on anything productive(master's degree) because I have no idea how much longer I have to wait. BTW I'm with the 145th out of Charlotte.

Yeah, the Guard is awesome. I'm a FY04 guy and I got approved Sept. 9, 2003. I don't have any dates yet so I'm patiently waiting aswell. Good luck to you guys.

I've got a related question. If you've already attended AMS or OTS for the guard or reserve, do you go drill with your unit on UTA weekends while you wait for UPT?

I've been to 2 drills now, and all the 2nd Lts. show up for drill prior to UPT.

I got my AMS date today. March 15th is when I'm headed to Knoxville. Anyone else scheduled for that date?

Finally received my AMS date, Jan 12. Going to Brooks April 8.
The squeaky wheel thing may have did the trick.

Has anyone been through ASBC?
