Union: Delta, Pilots Reach Tentative Deal
Friday April 14, 9:11 am ET
By Harry R. Weber, AP Business Writer Union: Delta, Pilots Reach Tentative Deal on Pay, Benefit Cuts That Could Avoid Strike
ATLANTA (AP) -- Delta Air Lines Inc. and its pilots union have reached a tentative agreement on pay and benefit cuts that could avert a strike, according to a memo Friday from the union to its pilots.
No details of the agreement were released.
The pilots union had threatened to strike if its contract is thrown out. Delta, which has been operating under bankruptcy protection since September, has said in court papers that a pilot strike would put it out of business.
Any deal on long-term pay and benefit cuts would have to be ratified by the airline's 5,930 pilots.

details

i'm hearing they soldout with the scope, unlimited 70, 50 -100 seaters.

Wow, I didn't realize Delta pilots made 159,000 a year. That is some pretty serious change. What are they trying to kill the golden goose?? I take half that and be happy!

Hopefully the weather will be bad where ever it is you're instructing so you can do a little research on this. Actually, since you already gave them a $2000 raise just in mis-reading of the article that you posted a link to, perhaps that won't work. Please do a bit more research next time before you make such an silly statement/flame.

and that's why your instructing.

When you actually put in the time, sweat, and blood to get to a major you'll realize 159k is a very small amount of money.

Of course keep up the problem of bringing down the industry.

Makes me sick. Loser.

Oh by the way just because you've seen a B-90 on the ramp doesn't mean you've flown it

Of all the stuff put out to the media, this is the most ridiculous. The only reason that the "average" salary of $159,000 exists is that because after massive early retirements, those captains left over flew boatloads of overtime, sold back vacation, etc. in order to fly the published timetable. I am not faulting them for that (I think we would have had to park the widebody fleets otherwise, and that would not have helped any pilot cause).

However that artificially inflated their salaries TEMPORARILY. I can't think of any first officer that made near that last year. Most narrow-body captains did not! That is like taking 100 workers, paying 99 of them $1 a year, the last one $1 million a year, and then claiming an "average" salary of $10,000 a year.

And that, professional pilots of the world, is the problem.

Senior pilots get accused of eating their young, while at the same time the young are gorging on the carcasses of their elders.

by the way guys like instructordude are why i'm happy netjets has a 2500hr contract with the owners.

It keeps pilots like yourself from undercutting my job.

Sorry, but I do know what sweat and blood is. When I see 159,000 my eyes pop open. I don't even make 10% of that and couldn't even imagine. I dont know how I am bringing the industry down though??

Instructordude.
Sense you will work for half that pay when you get to the majors, I will give you a recomendation for Fedex so you can come work for us. Just give me your name and SSN so I can write you a rec.

instructordude-

The reason you don't make 10% of that is because you don't have 90% of the skills and decision making that a major airline pilot has.

When you get the other 90% you will realize that 156k aint crap.

instructordude will eventually learn the value of his skills.

He just needs to learn to keep his thoughts to himself 'til he reaches that point.TC

Back to the topic.......

Anyone know any details of the TA? Rumor has it the DL pilots would not take a reduction in pay, work rules, etc, but had to allow 90 seat scope?

Typical total jerk Delta pilot statement. Whats the kid supposed to do, show up over at E32 and take the 777 to Dubai. Do you feel better about yourself to knock some flight instructor? If he has an 1100 student, great. He is taking the steps necessary to lead up to where you are. Major Airline Pilot God. What an ego!

Ps. He has every right to give his opinion as you and you GL buddy claim to have posting your incessant drivel on the Regional board.

You seem to be infatuated with GL, please feel free to put me on your ignore list! For someone who is ignoring him, you do a lot of talk about him. Now back to that rock from which you crawled out from under!

P.S. 12 replies to the kid and you chose a "total jerk DL pilot statement" to reply to. Its obvious you suffer from envy. You should seek help for it! Stop trolling around the Majors' board. Now back to the regionals board where you can tell everyone how great you are!

Considering that Chairman Lee Moak is a 737 CA, I doubt that they'll be giving up scope on aircraft that large. Ninety-seaters could easily be used to replace 737s and MD-88s on many routes.

Where are all the idiots that claimed strike now?

The purpose of negotiations is not to strike, but to achieve the best possible CBA under the circumstances. A strike, or a credible threat of a strike is nothing more than a tool to achieve that end.

I don't think you understand. Yes, instructor dork is taking the necessary steps, but he said he would work for half the money and that is what helps bring the pilot profession down. that and guys saying flying is like driving a bus.

737 Pylot is right on,

Since nimrod wants to come on this board and piss on everyone that has worked sohard to get where they are, and to then say he would whore himself out at half their pay-rate then he gets what he deserves. Add me on to the list of typical AA jerk pilot.

Instructordude is the problem of this industry, his thoughts make me want to vomit.
