Hey guys, has anyone looked at using and/or is using the anywhere map XM weather and mapping? They currently offer 3 different tablet pc's of different sizes. We currently have a Fujitsu tablet running in our 60 and looking to upgrade a 30 series to something similar. The wireless capability of anywhere map is attractive(my one real complaint with the fujitsu is the wires all over).

Any thoughts or info would be appreciated

i'm currently using anywheremap with an xm bluetooth connection. I've used it for about 100 hours so far and feel that I can give a pretty good run down of the good and bad points.

The biggest question is what type of plane will it go in. I know it sounds weird but it makes a difference. Also will you be using a bluetooth setup for a gps too? I highly recomend it.

Yeah sounds like you have what we're looking at. It would be going in a Lear 35. My question is the Gps a seperate box in the cockpit, or is it a repeater from the FMS position/speed/Alt output?

What are the good/bad points and what EFB do you have? We've found that the fujitsu in the 60 would be just too bulky for the 35

Thanks

A couple of things. The bluetooth gps unit we use sits up on the dash. It's rechargable to 10 hours of use but i get 15 out of mine quite a bit. I just throw it up on the dash. Saves and wiring or hardware installation costs. Here is a link to one that is close to ours. http://www.anywheremap.com/detail.aspx?ID=171

You have to get a bluetooth pcmia card or have a tablet that has bluetooth in it. I would highly recomend one from flight deck research because they replace the screen so that anything can tap it not just special pen that comes with the unit. This is handy when you are using your finger or just the pen that you were writing with. And your not frigged if you lose the "special" pen.

Are you going to be using anywheremap for a tracking software because i really wouldn't recomend it. I'd go with jeppview. Allthough jeppview isn't the most userfriendly anywhere map is more for the vfr pilots looking for airspace. I use both because i can use xmwx on the anywheremap. Looking back the anywheremap has a lot of features that I would never use and just make it more confusing. I should have gone with wxworx which i might just do this year. I just needed a weather service for the xmwx. I though i'd use the maping function on the anywheremap but i just don't.

Hope this helps. By the way i'm using an older fujitsu. Trying to decide on a new one this year.

We are using wxworx now, very good software I think. Thanks for the input, I too thought we'd use the map feature.

I will say too that the price for anywheremap is quite abit less than having the xm displayed through a fujitsu. Food for thought I guess

are you running jeppview now? Because you can use the signal from the GPS to overlay over the jeppview and it puts a nice little plane on all the charts.

Kind of cool to see you actually taxing down the right runway.
