Curious to know if anyone gets any compensation/percentage of the charters that they fly. I hear of guys getting a cut of the action, whether it's 1, 2% or what ever. If you do or know of others that do, can you please describe the terms of the agreement.

Thanks.

I've never heard of it, but I wish I did!

I have heard of this kind of an incentive once, and only once in the 30+ years I've been in this business. That was a Part 91 Falcon 200 in Van Nuys that had a Part 135 certificate. The owner told the two pilots they would receive 2% of all charter billings as an incentive to go out and fly charter. Sounds really nice, huh? Heck, I'd fly the paint right off the airplane myself.

The two guys who had this deal, however, thought their basic compensation was enough (and it really was good) so they didn't fly any charter, hardly.

Couple of years went by and the owner threw in the towel and sold the airplane. Those guys great compensatsion came to and end.

And that's the truth!

We recieved a bit of a cut at my last job which was a 91/135 gig. I think it was $25/hour/crewmember per hour of charter flown, about 1.5%. However, we did very little charter.

When I flew piston twins we got 8% of what the flight grossed. I'm pretty sure I was making more than the vast majority of other guys doing that sort of work. Never heard of it happening in jets though.
