MN Training

Hey,

I am not to sure what kind of training you are planning on doing but I partcipated in the accelerated CFI program. Outside of the weather, started in January, I found the training to be rigorous and extremely effective. I think that a down side maybe that MN aviation has a high attrition of instructors trying to meet minimum flight times for a different gig. Can't provide facts about there attrition but its a place where employees can build flight time quickly. Just make sure you do your homework before committing yourself. Hopefully this helps.

Good Luck,

peace.

IFLYSIU-

Roger that. Scheduled myself today. I'll report later. I'm going in for a PPL finish-up. Finish-up meaning the last time I flew I was checkride ready. My special case should be an interesting trial run right?

MN training.

Definitely a special case for MN aviation.! It should give you a good perspective on how they operate from basic training through advanced flight training. Oh...How well you are able to work with Mike Nevins and his team? Outside of cost that's just as important. I am curious if they still send students too Ames, IOWA for checkrides. Keep me posted and get that PPL ticket.
I, as well, am not from Albert Lea. Sorry TinMan.

Good Luck...:)

I'm from Minneapolis (not overly far from Albert Lea) and have been looking for something like this for my instrument, but I didn't want to have to go 1/2 way across the country to do it, or pay for someone to come to me (PIC-type course)

Anyone know what their rental rates are? I'm in a flight club, so I don't know if I can have them instruct in it if they aren't in the club.

Also, anyone know if there is an accelerated class more-local to me than Albert Lea?

IFLYSIU-

Well, I've worked well with them over the phone so far. I don't recall being told anything about Iowa either. I'm thinking that doesn't happen any longer. I think the rental rates are $73 for an IFR Warrior.

A few of my friends instruct there. It's a good operation and they will definately prepare you for any rating. Just come prepared and willing to learn and you shouldn't have any problems.

I have heard nothing but positives about the operation (most in PM's). That's rare and says allot. Along with finishing up my PPL, it's looking like I'll get some great training also.

I definately have the willingness to learn. How else would one prepare for a program like this?

Good place to go if you are willing to commit to getting your rating done. Dont go in with the attitude that you are simply buying a rating, because it is a very intense program. Stick to it and commit yourself 100% and it will be the cheapest and fastest way to accomplish what you want.

Crizz-

Thanks for the advice. I'm pretty confident that with a little polishing up I'll be able get through my checkride with no major problems. I'm also willing to listen to anyone who can teach me a thing or two.

Getting a bit nervous though :( I'm scheduled for this weekend. Hope the weather and my nerve hold out. ;)

OUTSTANDING

These guys rock! I don't think I've ever met a group of people so dedicated to getting the job done right, military service included.

I was seen to from the minute I stepped off the airline, to the minute I got dropped back off (I'm in the FBO's crew lounge in Signature at MSP waiting to be driven to the main airport).

Aside from my instructor, I got two pinch hits. One was the most thurough moch oral you could imagine. The other was my personnal hero!! This instructor met nearly impossible odds to insure I got to my checkride. By impossible odds I mean it was her day off, we had an actual electrical fire enroute to the check ride, and she flew and gave me actual IFR training while gettitng me back to MSP for my flight out. The aircraft used in the checkride was a replacement (our electrical smoke was a shorted switch) plane delivered by another instructor.

Did I mention that I passed my checkride with no question of my knowledge or skill level?

Used to instruct there...not the best facilities, but gets the job done if you are ready to learn...trust Nevins and the instructors, they know what they are doing.
