Canadians are funny with the way "translate" some legal issues that you get in the states. My friend had a issue in college. One night he was doing a canada turn and the customs agent detained him because in canada the misdemeanor (underage drinking) translates to a felony in canada.

They told him he had to take the first flight out of canada. When he told the customs agent that would leave the pax with a serious problem for the flight out in the morning they realized the problem. So they gave him a letter to say that he had been rehabilitated even though the issue was 20 years old.

It was pretty funny because he was all excited he wouldn't have to do CYUL turns anymore. :)

I also have a friend that has a dui and in Maine they put a hole through your liscence. The customs agents flip out when they see the hole. You have to apply for an exemption and its a pretty long process. Even though the sentence is over in the states.
