Hey all express jet pilots, I was wondering if you could me out.
I applied online 1-29-04 on a whim, just checking stuff out. Didn't really believe anything would come of it. Then I start hearing about all this hiring and I talked to few buddies @coex and they said now was the time! I called back last week and they asked me several questions and had me read back a PA announcement about getting de-iced. They then said they would call me in 30-90 days for more. My questions are: Is there really a chance of me getting an interview this way? Should I have a friend walk my stuff in? Will it help? I've read about 4 phases of the interview and was wondering is anybody out there has been through this recently. Any feedback would be appreciated. -Thanks

so your saying I'm probably going to get an interview based on them telling me they will call and there are 4 phases after that?- thanks

Ya might wanna try checking more than just the first 1/2 page here. There have been a number of threads for the last month on this issue. I'm sure you will find everything you are looking for.

Phase 1: online app (you finished that)
Phase 2: phone interview (you finished that)
Phase 3: face to face interview with line pilots and HR folks
Phase 4: face to face interview with department heads.

NOVA is correct,

I just went through the whole process. Its pretty straight forward. I start class on the 8th. No sim eval no real tough technical stuff all straight forward common sense stuff. Its your job to lose if you make it to the group interview. THey ask very straight forward common sense type stuff about CRM and situational awareness. After that you have a 3 on 1 with HR and department heads/CP's. Make sure your logbook is very accurate and all your paperwork they ask for is exactly what they ask for and you should be fine. Everyone has been awesome so far. If I can't get an answer from some one in training the guys on this forum have jumped in and provided good info. There does not seem to be the infighting here that I have seen at other carriers. These guys are unified and a tight knit group. I am glad I got hired on here. Good luck to you. Need any other info don't hesitate to PM me.

Regards

Thanks, fellaz

I really appreciate the feedback, guys. I read a few forums back and I did get alot of questions answered. These forums are cool, I wish I had found it earlier. Thanks for spelling it out for me Nova, sometimes I'm a little slow. Hey JR, you think I should have somone walk my stuff in now or not? Also, how long was it before you got the call for a face to face interview. I just finished the phone stuff last week. Is the aviationinterviews.com site pretty accurate on the questions? Thanks, first round on me, if I get on.

Xjet pilots can't walk in anyone's resume, it's all done via the web application. All a company pilot can do is provide you with a letter of recommendation for the face to face interviews.

Speaking of letters of rec., any XJet pilots have an applicant turned down that they had written a letter for? I remember pre-9/11 that a letter of rec. had little influence on the hiring process. I know the pilot I wrote a letter for got hired and I haven't heard of any with recommendations getting denied. Anyone else have success or even a failure?

boredpilot,
The gauge you are getting from these guys here are correct. You need to go through the website process. Walking your resume in at XJET does not do you any good. The way they are conducting their hiring is much different than most other carriers. Stick with the process.....just got your call. based on our conversation man your in good shape. Just let the process work. If you don't get a call after 30 days definitely give them another call to check status. I will send you that stuff tonight or tomorrow.

Cheers and good luck

Thanks J.R.
