I'm moving there sometime soon and looking for tips on what neighborhoods to look into renting an apartment in?

Anyone who's familiar with the area got any good info?

Doesn't need to be near airport, just near shopping, places to hang out, etc.

Which neighborhoods should I stay away from?

Used to be based there, never lived there though. Right around the airport is pretty rough in spots so I would stay away. And downtown main street is not a place to be caught after dark.

This was from about 7 years ago so it may have changed some since then.

I believe south of the airport gets into some pretty nice areas.

Yeah, I hear south (a ways) is pretty good, and west side of town is good too, just looking to maybe confirm those rumors!

I've been burned once before...ended up living in the largest crack dealership in Virginia (Sleezeburg).
