It seems that SWA has made a rather large departure from it's "nuts" strategy. Does that concern anyone in the middle of this merger lovefest? I mean, it's no longer no frills into second tier airfields avoiding competition, now it's into the big airports, headon competition with mergers etc..... Their company strategy has changed, I guess everyone just assumes it's for the better.

Dude.

Read nuts again and then remember Muse Air and Morris.

Airtran is competition and they have a rather large showing in ATL, they fly international without blowing up and they have some NYC and Reagan action.

No I am not concerned. As a matter of fact if we can figure out the SLI I think we will be un ********************ing stoppable.

Gup

Yeah I think you need to read nuts again-
The strategy you laid out was never the full Monty

With a whopping two airplane types, your not going to Narita anytime soon. Unstoppable remains to be seen. Everyone has their day in this industry.

Just MHO of course....

Wow, that is an AMAZING statement above. It's good you feel so GREAT about your situation. If the MERGER does go through, you will be the largest domestic LCC, but still won't own all of the slots at the major slotted airports, (ORD, DCA, EWR, LGA) won't have the majority of gates at the largest airport in the World (ATL--DL owns 70%), and this merger will most likely force the DOT to allow the DL/US slot swap and allow DL to become the largest carrier at LGA and USAir at DCA. Your merger will allow it. And don't be fooled, the Air Tran guys would be foolish to go for DOH. They will let arbitrators look at this, which is prudent.

Regardless, I think you guys are AWESOME, and I hope you all have a FANTASTIC DAY! Do something nice when you can, like helping a granny across a busy steet. See ya!

Perhaps, I just think that Muse and Morris were small potatoes compared to this acquisition. The SLI will be what it is. I agree that opening up the International destinations, ATL will be good for the business. Overall, this may be good for the whole industry as it means less overall LCC competition. Who knows, I just get paid to fly the planes, history shows though when everyone thinks it's a good idea, it's time to get nervous.

Imagine some of those Air Tran FA sistas in SWA shorts during the summer - yeah, not so pleasant - but pretty PHAT...

Let's just hope that the SWA culture does not take on any of Air Tran's customer service skills - have you ever met the AT gate agents in ATL? Terrible would be a compliment.

Personally, I would find it hard to put on a happy face when you are all alone working a gate with a line stretched to Alpharetta at the worlds busiest airport with delays due to summer thunderstorms with pressure to get the flight out or else from your supervisor.

Sit at Moe's and watch them work sometime, empathy can be eye opening............

I'm concerned about a friend who was "synergized" out of his Certified Dispatcher job with my company and joined Da Tranny two months ago as an aircraft router or whatever the hell you guys call it in Orlando. I'm guessing his job will be "synergized" to Dallas by the end of next year.

This deal ain't gonna be roses for everybody.
