Just wondering if anybody has used the Jeppesen DVD's for Private Pilot's training?

I am talking about the DVD's here: http://www.jeppesen.com/wlcs/application/commercewf?origin=category.jsp&event=link(browse)&wlcs_catalog_sourceKey=wlcs_categories&wlcs_catalog_destinationKey=wlcs_siblings&wlcs_catalog_category_id=ATX5D

I currently have the Ultrimate Jepp kit which comes with two pieces of software... 1.) FlightSchool (1 cd-rom) 2.) Private Pilot Manuevers CD-Roms (5 cds).

These pieces of software are pretty good, but I was also looking for something I can pop in the player and sit on the couch to watch at home after a long day of work. The last thing I want to do after working all day is go back on the computer or read a book (my eyes hurt from working on a pc all day). So that's where I thought these DVD's may come in handy.

But I just wanted to get others opinions on how they think these DVD's are for training and the quality of them?

also, how do you think they are compared to other videos from King Schools, ASA, Gleim, etc?

Thanks guys!

p.s. -> If anybody has these DVD's and are looking to sell them, let me know..

Go with the King video squale, because after a "long day at work" (=school?) there is nothing that beats the King videos to put you to sleep.

By far SUPERIOR to anything else

lol, no I am not looking to be put to sleep, but instead to learn and understand the videos well, and personally those King people are annoying as @#$@@$#% !!!

Lol

I think that you should make your own videos. The experience would be great, and since you seem to have $25,000 to blow through on your private alone, cost certainly isn't a factor.

Seriously, just let it go...

yeah good idea, you want to be on the videos?

we can be like the Kings.... you will play Martha... great idea..

Squale, there is no easy way to learn this stuff. You can't just watch a video and know everything there is to know.

wow, all I did was just ask if anybody used the DVD's, that's it, why is it that every post people need to put me down, please just don't answer if you have a problem..

Squale,
You have the problem in that you're not listening to our advice. You asked for it, and now you're getting it. For the x millionth time...

Advice: Do NOT get the DVDs. Take notes in your ground lessons, read a book or two.

Diagnosis: I think what you're looking for is a substitute for experience.

Advice: A substitute for experience doesn't exist. 25% of the stuff that you're going to learn from books, etc. isn't practical in everyday flying. Thus it will be promptly forgotten after a checkride/exam. The other 75% is stuff that you will learn through ground lessons, dual flights, and solo experience, and be more apt to remember it since you've been exposed to it more.

Advice: Save some of the money that you want to spend on $1000 headsets and $500 DVDs for an instrument rating after you get your private. Stats show that pilots with an instrument rating are quite less likely to have problems later on.

Advice: Find other aviation people out at your airport to annoy with these questions.

Advice: Make some decisions on your own. When you're in sh*t weather as a lower time VFR pilot you're not going to be able to post on the board and ask "Hey guys, should I keep looking for a hole, call FSS, or get help from ATC?"

You're enthusiasm is great. Asking questions is great. Belittling us for giving you advice is asking to get crapped on.

hey man nobody said you ever needed to chime in on the post..
I am just starting to think certain people here just enjoy putting others down...

when I look at posts, if I can add something informative, stupid question or not, I do so... if I don't have anything to add, I simpily don't respond, saves you and I both time, and doesn't clog up the threads...

I chimed in 'cause I had something to add.

I've left quite a few of your moronic threads alone. This one was too good to pass up.

Or you don't bother to look at posts and just start random threads on the most rediculous sh*t.

Jeppesen has a nice product, I suggest these over the King ones. I looked at the King ATP prep when I was doing that awhile back and after a few minutes I pretty much decided against it. Martha is pretty bland/boring and I did not feel like helping them pay for the Jet-A to put into the Citation Jet that they own.:D

Go with the Jepp..
