I would appreciate any update you might have on UPS hiring. I'm kind of having that all dressed up & nowhere to go feeling -

I have not heard any official numbers, but they are still hiring. The new system bid awards came out last week and there is a lot of movement going on.

I got told no hiring until they get a contract. The contract is currently in stalled mediation with no end in sight. A few UPS buddies have told me it is going to get uglier than it already is. The union has apperently asked for relief from mediation because they can't even strike if they wanted to and the judge said no. I got told that one of their youngest 747 captains refuesed to give the jump seat to the Chief Pilot on UPS business. Another story about more and more captains taxiing at half the speed of smell. Take this all with a salt shaker full of grains as it is third or fourth party info from me; a freight dog wanna be with his hand in the air like Horshack from Welcome Back Kotter... Ooo, oooo, ooooooo.

We are still interviewing, I know of someone that interviewed in Jan, and I have a buddy interviewing on the 6th. Also, these are line positions, not management.

What's the secret to getting an interview?

Is it ok to stick your head into HR and check on a buddy's status or not?

hey cool avatar...you must have flown bank checks too..looks like a normal t/o from midway...

Sure did, and loved every minute of it. I know MDW been there many times. Loved the days with the heavy snow and the un plowed areas!!!

Geez, the avatar's giving me a cranium ache!! Looks like it rolls about half as fast as a T-38 on a dude's initial solo out to the airspace (not that I rolled the T-38 over and over and over and over myself of course!!)...

that's were we learned to fly..5 legs a night..broken radar..no heat...loading and unloading...stealing from the vending machines...and no money..the good ole days...

Did someone say bank checks?

Hey LLB,

Glad to see that you are still alive! I thought that maybe the pool water had frozen over. Since you guys mentioned checks, are you by chance an ex-Starchecker? I'm an alum of cancelled checks ala Airnet, funnest 9 mo. (and 700 hrs) of flying yet.

1800,
Still here. I have sent you a OM on this matter. But I am a former BankAir boy. Did it for almost 5 years in the Lear. I still miss it today. did what you had to do in a types of conditions. The one thing that was left out was getting wet while loading/unloading and then staying wet for the night.

Last football game for this season is sunday. enjoy the unoffical national holiday.

Hey Cappy. I'd say a management recommedation. The guy I know who is interviewing on Monday had 1 rec, and it was from an ACP that happened to be on his jumpseat. He is a check-airman so that might help as well. Where as I know people with multiple line recommendations from people that know them really well and they can't get a nibble.
