Any Skyway pilots- I've been hired into the pool and have some questions about training, etc.

How do you get HIRED into a pool?

Hey, I'd like to thank you for showing me how I used the word "HIRED," and as it turns out, it wasn't technically correct for me to say that I've been "HIRED into the pool. Golly, what a mistake! I'll surely be more careful next time. Thanks for your reply- it was very helpful.

Everybody look the vein guy can make a funny, easy dude.

Upon further investagation, WrightAvia posted that....you are justified

ummm.....well, I'm curious if anyone has heard how long reserve is. I'm in the pool (not hired in, I now know) and don't really know much about it. Do they overstock the pool and there's a chance you don't ever get a class, or do you usually get a class date or what? I've only been in the pool a few weeks, and they didn't really explain it to me. Well, they did but I was so frickin nervous in the interview I'm not really sure what they said about it. I just remember nodding and saying, "Yeah. Wow. Uh-huh. Ok." So, and info would be great from anyone out there. Thanks.

The pool in general

Maybe this will help you, I don't know.

My pool experience wasn't with the airline you're talking about, but, having been placed in a pool for a different regional airline around May of '02 - I waited, and waited...and waited - sent an update once a month, called to confirm that they received it. I'm still waiting, technically.

The point is, a pool is just that. You might get a call from SYX tomorrow, and then again, you might be left swinging in the breeze. I believe some of the people who were "in the pool" for SYX when they slowed down/stopped hiring prior to the 11th had to re-interview - take that for what it's worth.

I think the SWA poolies have formed somewhat of a cult -- many of the people there have been waiting at least a year, or more. Wading in the pool stinks - at least it did for me. I got lucky and went somewhere else. If you have another job offer from a place you'd like to go, I'd say take it.

Hope this helps,

i dont believe reserve will be that long. No one knows how big the pool is but it sounds that they will continue to run new hire classes, at least for the near future. I cant imagine that the pool is very big. I dont think it would be the worst thing to give them a call and have them explain it again.
