I know it's not aviation related, but sorry Im not aviation employed anymore. I just picked up the new Rush CD Vapors, and I for one can not stand it, and I am a huge Rush fan. I does not sound anything like them. Neil Peart the best drummer on the planet sounds like a high school drummer in a bad high school band. I dont know I guess this CD sounds a little like there first CD "RUSH" or "Fly By Night" by I sure love the sound of "Moving Pictures" "Signals" and "Exit Stage Left" maybe you dont like Rush, maybe just maybe I'll save you the $13.99, and covering the back of my fellow aviators is what I really want to do. I give this CD two thumbs down.

Limbaugh yes. Music group no. I'm more into Stevie Ray Vaughn, or Junior Brown. Anyone else?

enigma

I love RUSH!

If you get a chance to see them live I HIGHLY recommend it. Excellent musicianship, perfect sound, cool visuals, and just an all around great show.

As for Vapor Trails....I didn't care much for it either. The production was horrible, and the songs really weren't much better. Earthshine and Sweet Miracle are ok, but the rest are just plain weak. They do sound much better live though.

SRV is legendary, and Junior Brown certainly does some outstanding guitar work. I respect both for what they did/do, but I can't really just sit down and listen to SRV or Brown for very long.

Same here, there are only a couple of songs that I liked in their latest album.

Gotta go with acarpe3448 a 100% on this one!! Rush rocks!!
Best **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** thing out of canada ever!! thanks for the heads up on the latest album. too bad.

Enigma beat me to it. Limbaugh yes, the musical (I use that term very loosely) group, no. Right on about Junior Brown!

I agree that Rush is so fantastic live. I have seen them twice. Once on the Show of hands tour, and once way back on the Moving Pictures Tour. But this new Vapors Trail CD just Plain sucks. Save your money, or invest in a new copy of one of their classics. I am sorry if I sound like I worship Neil Peart but he is hands down the most incredable drummer on the planet. There is no one he comes close to what he can do on the kit. What is really amazing is he can make it look easy. That man friend is not amazing, it is a gift from GOD. He writes great lyrics also. We are the priests of the temples...

I am certainly one of the biggest Rush fans around here. Yeah the VT album was different, but Rush is a progressive band. The sound will change, but the amazing musicianship will not. Listen to the album again. You can hear Geddy playing amazing bass lines, Alex doing what he normally does on guitar and of course neal with his flawless drumming.
The VT show was one of the best ones they have done in a while, every thing during the show was just right. Sound, lights and an incredible set list.

two things come out of canada, Rush and crj's. (my aviation plug)

I enjoyed playing Rush on the radio, from the early efforts through the mid 80's. The live shows were outstanding. I haven't heard the new CD. Maybe I'll stop by Borders and give it a listen.

Stevie Ray was a real favorite in Philly. His live "Little Wing" at the Ripley Music Hall was easily on a par with Clapton at the Fillmore East, back when I was at NYU.

Those were some fun times.

"I stand atop a spiral stair!
An oracle confronts me there...."

Moving Pictures '83, Boutwell Auditorium, BHM, baby! Stood on my seat the whole time, and some slacker smoked a fatty, bent over in the seat behind me. All that dam' reefer smoke wound up floating up to me. MAN did I have a good time, but was real hungry afterwards....

It's dude music, man. Red Barchetta is, like "Panama" by VH, good for driving too fast. Coming up, we listened to Rush and Skynyrd (and Prince if we were trying to get laid!)

I once played both bass and DX7 on Tom Sawyer for a talent contest with my high school rock band. We never could quite pull off Spirit of the Radio, but we tried. Young-uns don't realize how lame rock was back then. We could cover 99% of what was on the radio. I marvel at the technical aspects of what they play today - even Bare Naked Ladies would take some work. We used to play Hall & Oates in our sleep!

Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, Metallica, SRV, Soundgarden, or a hundred other bands whose songs I've played in cover bands, Rush was always my favorite to play...Spirit of Radio was my favorite to play.

Haven't heard the new album. "Counterpart" was the last I bought.

It's a taste thing. You gotta have a taste for them to like them. I've never heard so much music come from 3 people since listening to them, though. It sounds like there are 10 of them. Haven't heard the new stuff, but I'm still a 2112 fan.....

Big Rush Fan........Wasn't crazy about Vapor Trails but it grew on me. It sounds like poor MP3 quality. I didn't see the latest tour, but I heard it was great. They have a 2 DVD concert video coming out next month filmed on their last show in Rio. They sure don't get much radio play, but they have to be one of best technically proficeient bands of all time. Any band that can stay toghether for over 30 year has to be something right.

Rush Rocks absolutely, seen them 3 times, once at Red Rocks,Awesome show.

Anyway regarding Neil Peart, he is good and probably the best but i would counter with Carl Palmer from Yes, Go back and listen to some old Yes and listem to him play, He is good

It takes a Rush fan to stand Geddy's whiny voice. Someone joked to me once that in order to sing like that he has a b*tt-plug on while singing. Ok, sorry for the bad taste...

Oh, and i like some of rush's work. Some of it's too orchestra-like though, too instrumental.

Rush is one of the greats. Saw them at the Texxas Jam in '84. If you have VH1 Classic, you can catch a number of their vids. Red Barchetta, Spirit of Radio, Trees, Closer to the Heart, Working Man are just some of the good ones.
