I'm a regional FO that is considering making the jump to NJ. Is there anyone living in Houston that would be interested in grabbing a cup of coffee or a beer (on me of course) so I can get some of my questions answered?

I don't live in Houston but I commute to IAH with ExpressJet. I am a Captain there and have already applied to NetJets, just waiting for the interview. I have done alot of research on them and its a no brainer in my mind, being an FO or a CA. Feel free to PM me. Only other companys to compare are SW, UPS, FEDEX. I wouldn't consider it, I would apply. You will be waiting awhile and you can make up your mind while you wait for the interview.

UND Sioux - you can send me some PM's if you would like. I don't live in HOU or I'd take you up on your offer.

UND I recently made the jump from another regional and I'm not looking back. While you are thinking about it, get your resume in and get in the que for the interview.

I am open for a PM too if you want to chat.

I " Jumped " and after a year at NJA I made the easy decision to spend the rest of my career hear. You work hard but get paid well and there are so many perks that are tax free you cant put a value on it. Dont waste your time at a regional because this is the best un-kept secret in the industry. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give the regionals a 2, the majors a 6, Fedex-Ups a 9 and NJA an 8. Big Iron vs great vacation, pay, schedule, 401k, job security, and dang smart CEO ( not to mention it was good enough for Warren Buffet, the greatest investor of all time) what is there to think about? I would rather no one come over so us post-contract guys could get home basing but Im not that selfish!

Do not listen to the BS in this thread! All these NJA guys just want regional pilots to get hired at NJA and provide them a better chance of getting hired at the regionals. NJA pilots work long hours and can barely pay the bills with the meager pay.

I repeat stay away from NJA. The regionals are a far better place to be.;)

I'd say nearly all of the FO's and many captains I've talked with at NJA have their apps in with the regionals. NJA is just a stepping stone these days, as most people come here to get their time in order to qualify for a regional.

 :D

How can that be possible. Most guys at the regionals I have worked for don't come there with an ATP. Most don't even have 1500 hours. Many regionals hire guys with less than 1000 TT. How can NJ be a stepping stone? A stepping stone to what, crappy pay and schedules?

That was sarcasm on my part, Sioux, as I tried to indicate with the emoticons at the end of my message.

For the record, NetJets requires that anyone applying have 2500 hours TT and an ATP. That's far above the mins for any regional I can think of. Although pay isn't where it should be, in my opinion, for new-hires, I think you'll find that NetJets offers better pay and schedules (7-on/7-off is the normal schedule) than the regionals also. The benefits are better, too.

If you have questions, feel free to PM me.

I just laughed so hard I think I pooped a little.

I've been with NJA now for 7+ years and I've had enough!!!!!!!

I have an interview with Pinnacle next week. I need a change for the better. Hopefully this will jump start my career. I really need to wear an airline hat to feel wanted.

Wish me luck.

i've got an interview with precision. I hear they have a great union managment relationship and upgrades are quick.

I just have to find their airplanes.

2 are in Edmonton, Canada....

12 are in Nigeria being used as ground attak airplanes for the Nigeria military.

Maybe I'll get a seaplane rating and fly fishermen around, do a few fire patrols and just sit back and take it easy......any leads?

I think that all of you senior guys should go over to Skybus. You know, it is CMH based. I am sure you have that need to fly a "real airplane". Just think of the destinations you could go to. You will have your pick of FAs for the overnights, oh, thats right, no overnights.....well its better for the marriage anyway. Your career isnt complete until you have been screwed over be crappy airline management. Give it a try, think of the pass benefits. You can see what its like to "beg"....I mean jumpseat. Good luck on your next career move.

"real airplanes" have floats and/or skiis.

If you can't do a "wheel landing" or a "glassy water" , then you're just a glorified limo driver.

As long as it's a well-paid limo driver, I'm OK with that appellation.
