Help! Desperate for any news, good or bad. In this case, I don't think 'no news is good news'.

Thanks for any help or information. I do not have anyone on the inside to drop in training/mgt. and ask questions.

JP

Tryin' to keep the faith!

I hope I don't sound negative but I was told that it'll be at least a year or so before UPS knows how the age 65 rule will truly affect the attrition... Right now it's anyone's guess... If I were you I'd try to stay current and plan for the worst just in case... Once they start hiring though, it'll be with a vengeance - always a step behind… ;)

ACP told us 2 weeks ago that they will be hiring into the panel this summer.
Heard they cut the DC-8 lines in 1/2 because they were so short on FE's.

ACP seems to have a feel with what's going on. Worked with Manpower planning the last couple of years.

I know most don't know the big picture, but I believe this guy and the insight he told us.

Look for some classes this summer.

UPS said no classes for the year so that makes me pretty sure they are hiring this summer ;)

Good luck

The DC-8 panel seats were mostly filled by over-60 pilots. Did they have some provision to go back to a front seat, or did a bunch choose to retire? Seems strange that they would have had a shortage of panel operators. Don't get me wrong, I sure would like to see them hiring again!

Pretty much all the front seat openings are going to over 60 FEs. Nothing like moving backwards for a while.

Thanks for the info.

Great, maybe some classes this year. Thanks for the info. It is difficult, if not impossible to get any kind of update and I feel like my life is in limbo.

Keep the info. and updates coming!

Right now there's plenty of F/Es on the DC-8. Is the ACP referring to the results of the upcoming bid, when more will bid off for ANC (along with the 747 F/Es)? I hope we announce some new a/c orders before long. Been hearing from many that we are working on something....we need the lift.

Hang in there....the summer will be a drag but by late August things will be starting to spin up again. Our Asia lift is going to be recovering by the holidays. If the fuel market corrects itself we should be back calling you guys even sooner.

The good news...your in the pool. While waiting for the call....order yourself a cocktail!

PreContract, I think we've seen all the over 60 FE's we're going to see bid to ANC FO because on this last vac bid some of the vacancies went to junior FO's. Now, if there's any CA vac in ANC or ANY front seat vac domestically, I'm sure we'll see the over 60 guys fill those seats.

It's going to be a while before guys like me can hold anything domestically but engineer, but I'm sure we'll see unfilled FO vacancies up in ANC in the near future.
