I'm helping out some OTS people in the local area.

One guy has a question:

If someone gets selected to be a Missle Launch Officer, are they stuck in that career field forever, or can they transition to something else...

I never worked as a Missle Launch Officer, but I want to let the guy know what others have done. Here's some questions I'd like to get answers to:

1. What career transitions are available?
Both career broadening (like ROTC),
and complete new career path (like Space Command/UPT)
(I don't think the guy is pilot qualified)

2. How long do you have to stay in Missles? (How fast can you transition to something else?)

3. Can you still accomplish Grad School in the Silo?

Any feedback will be appreciated

Steeler-

As you know, I've never been a cone head, either. But, I think that since the missiles are now part of Space Command (unless they've changed it again), missileers can now transition into general space operations career fields (satellite stuff and NORAD stuff?).

Anyone out there know for sure?

BTW, how's the new job -- I like your new avatar.

Missile Thing

I know one guy who was missles and now he is head of contracts for Space and Missile Command, basically he manages procurements for Space Comman, but he also worked on the C-130J and the new prop job at ATC, so there are a lot of different career paths to chose from I think this guy was operational in missles until he hit mid 0-3, then he went and got his masters on USam's dime
