Well, I got kicked off the alpa boards for not paying my 2nd merger fund payment. Also haven't been to work in a while..

Any news on furlough dates yet. It seems like the last scheduled passenger 80 flight is on Sept. 7. But I haven't gotten my 30 day notice yet.

I was black listed from ALPO website for not payibg any of the assesments also. I have not received any formal letter yet myself. How about those 80 lines next month...what a disgrace. 8

Word is that starting the 8th of September, a class of 6 pilots every week lasting about 1 month of training per pilot. MY guess would be that furlough letters would start to be sent out in September, anticipating guys coming on-line throughout October and continuing from there.

they have to give them 30 days notice. So earliest day, maybe 9/15/08....

one can hope TH is constipated (or explosive diarrhea while talking in the LaGuardia room) considering oil is falling and he is giving away all that market share by parking 13/38 of his fleet.......

Last time he said " we had a plan to be profitable at $115, guess what its even lower than that now.

Timmy's plan for profitablity at $115 bbl oil was to end the fiscal year with money in the bank just as he announces his retirement and passes the problem onto someone else at which point it would be almost impossible to recover.
My suggestion, have him go back to school and repeat kindergarten thru 12th grade; each grade in two weeks, regraduate and then he can have the company back!

You hit the nail on the head. Giant penguins are actually telling him how to run the company.

Also, instead of having a stack of aviation related publications on his coffee table in the cookie palace, he's reading "Drunk 80 year old Grandma's". Oh, by the way, I call dibs on throwing the first graduation party for Kindergarten which will include chocolate chip cookie cakes and Big Wheels and penguins!

Looks like 2 furloughs on 9/15 and 6 more on 9/30. Nice. At this rate we'll be paying FO's to sit around till New Years. Way to go Hucky.

Not that I give that idiot any credit nor am I hopeful I will be called back quickly but possibly they are either rethinking how many they are actually going to furlough now that oil is dropping, or they are intending on replacing the 80 fleet with something else. They were probably hoping all of the employees were going to bend over and take it in the a$$ with concessions and then announce new airframes are coming. Walla you now have cheap labor for those shiny new jets.

So...I guess I never really did the math, but with the training for the 717 it seems that most guys will at least be getting paid through October??

I guess that'll help since I have zero job prospects.

Also, are you guys that are getting canned going to pay/or have already paid that 2nd merger fund payment. I just can't bring myself to send in the check.

Some FO's will be pay protected through Jan 09 according to the head of scheduling. Lack of sim time is the excuse he gave me. Good thing were saving money with these furloughs... 8

any word about the plan going forward. Didn't they say somthing about being profitable at $120 oil? Thankfully my wife was spared a furlough at least one of us has a job. For now.

Timmay has a plan. He doesn't know it yet, but he has a plan.

Here is Timmy's plan. Let's not pay our bills in our hometown forcing the city to charge the other airlines to cover part of Midwest's gate fees. Brilliant!!!

Now, if Timmy could just not pay the fuel bill and let other airlines pay his fuel bill Midwest might have a chance to return to profitability.

Midwest Airlines behind on gate fees to Mitchell Airport
By TOM DAYKIN
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
August 21, 2008

Mitchell International Airport is feeling Midwest Airlines Inc.’s financial pain, with the carrier falling behind on paying gate fees to the airport.
Midwest is more than 30 days overdue on $1.05 million in gate fees owed to the airport, said Ryan McAdams, a spokesman for the airport, which is owned by Milwaukee County. Midwest pays around $700,000 in monthly gate fees, with the exact amount determined by the number of flights for the airline, he said.
Midwest, which is contemplating a possible Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization, has been making payments, McAdams said.
“It just isn’t the full amount,” McAdams said.
He said the delinquency dates back to July, shortly after Midwest’s financial problems were publicly disclosed. The airline has been hit hard by rising fuel costs and a decline in passengers, and it will make 40% cuts in its schedule and work force by September.
Those are among the steepest such cuts by U.S. airlines.
Oak Creek-based Midwest, which accounts for more than 50% of Mitchell’s passenger traffic, is the only airline that is behind on its gate fees, McAdams said.
Midwest executives and airport managers are discussing a payment plan for the carrier, said McAdams and company spokesman Michael Brophy.
The airport, while publicly owned, does not receive money from county taxpayers.
Its $67 million annual budget gets its largest share of revenue from parking fees, McAdams said. Gate fees paid by airlines account for 8.8% of the airport’s annual revenue, he said.
The airport is obligated to break even by the end of the year, McAdams said.
Any shortfall in gate fees from Midwest would be recovered by raising gate fees for other airlines at Mitchell, he said.
Major carriers at Mitchell include AirTran Holdings Inc., which last year mounted an unsuccessful takeover attempt of Midwest; Northwest Airlines Corp., which owns 47% of Midwest; and Delta Air Lines Inc., which is buying Northwest and will acquire the Midwest stake.
