The wife and I are looking at moving to live somewhere fun for a few years before we have kids. She would really like something out West and so would I. We're not too interested in Cali, but OR, WA, ID, CO, and WY are all fair game. My question is this: Does anyone have any suggestions as far as jobs go? She would be able to put in an internal transfer request at Target but I can't do that. Any leads on jobs? I don't care too much what I do. I would prefer to stay corp. if I can but I wouldn't say no to airlines or night cargo work.

I'm looking for any job leads/suggestions that might be out there...especially if they are in an area with a Target nearby.

Thanks!

I live in Medford, OR, and we have a Target. Don't really know about flying jobs, but the airport here is undergoing some major upgrades, and I believe there are four regional carriers serving it currently. Millionair is buying one of the FBOs and is constructing a new building on the field. FedEx has a couple of Caravans based here; there's also Mercy Flights and a couple of charter operations. The area is beautiful, Crater Lake NP is an hour's drive or a quick flight from here, the coast isn't far either, great skiing, hiking, lots of historical/cultural/artsy stuff, blah blah blah and lots, I mean LOTS, of drive-thru coffee stands. Possibly more per capita than any other city in America.

Sorry I can't be of more specific help for your job search, but it's something to look at.

P.S.--If you plan to buy a home, bring MONEY. Housing prices are ridiculous.

Try the Forest Service, they have a lot of jobs, flying jumpers or air attack, lots of fun too, of course that's a far cry from corporate, but what the hell, you did say any. Best of luck,

I'll definitely look into Medford. What's the typical weather? We both love snow, ya get much of that or is it mostly rain?

And yes, I did say ANY type of flying. Now would be a great time for me to try new things!

Keep 'em coming!

Rarely in a great while does snow hit the valley floor...although March 10, believe it or not, we had a good couple inches stick, enough that I got paid to stand around for 3 hours until it melted enough to drive on. ;)

However, you're never more than 30 mins away from good deep snow in the winter... not into skiing myself really but Mt. Ashland is about 25 miles south on I-5 and is one of the northwest's finest resorts and what not, from what people tell me. Plenty of salmon and other types of fishing to do on the Rogue River and the copious surrounding lakes, too.

This far south in Oregon it doesn't rain as much as it does in, say, Portland (summers are actually pretty dry and the fire season can be a beeyotch)...but winters tend to be drizzly and as stated above, FOG FOG FOG...it'll sit in the valley for weeks on end. Get used to shooting approaches to mins on a regular basis.

I have a good handful of pictures of the area taken from above and the ground... PM me with your email if you're interested and I'll send them to ya.

Best of luck!

F-15's are based at KFalls....just over the mountain.

The USFS is based in Redmond. Check USAJOBS.COM and put in Pilot or 2181 Series. Redmond is Region 6.

Second on the snow at Mt. Ashland. Pretty good. And Mt. Shasta is only an hours drive south. No sales tax in Oregon but hellacious prop tax.
