Does anyone know a pilot who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and was able to continue his/her aviation career (as a pilot)?

Any information you have on this subject would be greatly appreciated!

The only box I could see on the medical application that might be checked is neurological disorders. I have a former girlfriend, not a pilot, who has MS and functions just as normally as anyone else. The tough part is she doesn't know when or if she might digress to the point of not being able to do so. From my recollection of MS, it can be very debillitating for many but for some fortunate people, not so much of a hindrance to daily life. I know none of that answers your question. Maybe a call to an experienced AME would help. They've probably seen it all. Good luck to whomever it is that has been diagnosed.

I Know 2 people that have died from the disease! Really sad when they are walking down the street and they fall down etc.

A diagnosis of MS is may be disqualifying for a medical ceritificate of any class. An Airman diagnosed with ms should seek the assitance of an AME who is board certified in aerospace medicine.

"Transient loss of control of nervous system function(s) without satisfactory explanation of cause."

is disqualifying

I have a former colleague from the AF who was diagnosed with MS and he was able to get his medical back after about 6 months of testing. He flies for American. But you should contact a QUALIFIED medical examiner who may be able to help you with your specific problem. There are many forms of MS and they may not all be disqualifying. Good Luck

My step-brother has a form of MS, for him it has been quite debilitating.
