This begs the following question - Are there any regional airline pilots out there?
FlyChicaga said:I'm very happy. Everyone I fly with has their own set of interesting quirks and approaches to flying which really makes things fun and interesting! I think flying with all different kinds of crews is helping make me a better person, in all honesty. I learn something from each crew. I don't think I've ever laughed harder and longer than I have at this job. The airplane I fly is a blast to buzz around in, and I make it a personal challenge to fly it more smoothly and efficiently every turn.
Sure, pay could be better... hopefully we'll get some new equipment and better pay scales soon. Some days when it's hot as all blazes, and for the 4th time today we are waiting for wingwalkers to mosey on over, you just gotta shrug and "sigh." You can always have bad days... just gotta take them in stride.
I honestly couldn't imagine doing anything else. Talking with my ex the other day, she was b*tching about her new job and how she wanted to quit after her first few days. I couldn't imagine feeling that way. I feel really fortunate to be doing exactly what I want to do. Not many people can say they look forward to going to work. I am lucky I can always say I'm looking forward to it.
Some people think my positive attitude comes from being young and new. But that's not it. I'm just really easy-going and don't take things personally. I'm not going to waste fun times being bitter. Bitterness isn't going to make for a fun flightdeck. I just hope that someday when I move on to another company, it can be as much fun flying there as it is at my current company.
More people need to heed their own advice and sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.
PS: People should also realize that loving your job and enjoying the company you work for doesn't mean you'll be a wh*re. You can be happy, a good employee, and maintain self respect.
