People from the "Corporate" forum, you are free to ignore this. For those who havn't seen it...

I was just wondering if anyone knew of pilot employers that don't mind taking young studnets out of college with a student visa, helping out with immigration paperwork?

Most probably places would be Flight schools and FBOs for a CFI job...

if anyone has any experience or knowledge on the matter, it would be greatly appreciated...

I'll gladly respond to PMs too

Your posting don't say too much about how much you know about this. Here is some information that might steer you in the right direction.

Many years ago, I knew a pilot from Belgium who worked at a US flight school on a temporary VISA while the owner tried to get him on a more permanent status. The immigration systems used many years to process the application. Pilots are not on the list of professions that there is a need for in the US. Don't know the laws in details but I believe that your employer must sponsor you and guarantee that he will take care of you financially. This will only work if you have an employer who is willing to put a lot of time, energy and finical risk into this. Don't think this is very likely to find unless you have a close personal friend or relative.

Here are some reasons why this is not a realistic approach:
  1. Charity starts at home - most employers will hire their own nationals first (regardless of where in the world you are).
  2. There is a surplus of US CFIs looking for work and willing to work for next to nothing.
  3. You can not work here while your application is being processed unless you have an underlying VISA that will allow you to work as well as being a student.
  4. Employers that hire aliens without the proper paperwork take big risks.[/list=1]

A few schools offer a J-1 student exchange VISA that will allow you to work for a limited time. This will only work if you get it before you enter the US for your first initial studies. Another option is to take a US college degree, which might allow you to work for a short period to get relevant work experience. In this case I belive it is the university that must complete the paperwork and application. (This might be what you were asking - since you used the words "out of college"?)

General rule - if you are in the US on the "wrong" VISA, it might be too late. If you are planning studies in the US - find out what you can do with the type of VISA various schools might offer - before you apply.

Immigration law is described in CFR 8 (Code of Federal Regulations about Aliens and Nationality). Suggest you talk to a local Immigration Office if you are in the US or to your US Embassy if you are outside the USA. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I have seen many prospective non US pilots waste precious time on this issue and it will seldom lead to permanet status. The only option is a short term permit if you start on the "right" VISA. The Immigration law and techniques used to enforce these issues have been tightening up a lot during the last few years.
