Anybody have any info on ABX? Hiring? Bases? Financial status? etc.. Haven't heard or seen much about them lately... - Thanks!

I know every so often an ugly maroon and yellow DHL plane replaces the ABX plane on the ramp. Rotation looks like about 1 out of 7 days.

Must be how they avoid getting in trouble for breaking some sort of rule.

Breaking some sort of rule? What might that be? Dhl is painting the ABX fleet at the rate of about one aircraft per week. At that rate it will take awhile to paint all 120+ (if they even paint all of them). Your seeing the different colors is simply a matter of which plane gets sent where on a particular day.

As to the original question; no hiring as of now, 30 still on furlough, only base is ILN as it has always been. Our ACMI contract quarantees a slim profit, but also means we are now in a state of flux while DHL consolidates the hubs.

Stand by to stand by.

Heard yesterday that we are retaining the Anchorage shuttle and still keeping the new west coast shuttle that DHL just awarded which would be a net increase in flights. Also still keep hearing the strong possibility of getting San Juan back. Hope this is indicative of things to come after Aug 16.

If we keep the ANC shuttle and get SJU back, standby for the junior manning. FO's will have Captains' turn in paperwork and will be jumping the parking lot fence. Even if the company brings back furloughees, it won't be in time, things are already fairly lean.

Unfortunately, if we put a 76 on SJU, the pain will be less concentrated and the company will be able to delay recalls again.
