For anyone who did their ATP at ATP (Especially at the RIC location) -

The examiner our flight school uses told us the other day that the ATP oral is 3 hours long. Is that typical for ATP (the company)? The way people talk about it being so quick, I have a hard time believing it will be that long. I realize the amount of time depends on the applicant, to a degree. Other than systems and IFR stuff, what else is covered? Anything from the written on 121 (or 135) info? I have had many friends get their ATP and never mention anything about covering that type of information on the oral.

(I'm starting to sweat this thing now...Can't wait to just get it over with.)

Anything listed in the practical test standards for the ATP may be asked, as well as anything pertaining to any certificate or rating you now hold.

If you're not flying Part 121 or 135, then you probably won't get asked anything regarding those parts.

My oral for an ATP in the Seminole was only an hour, and that was pushing it. Do you have the PTS? I don't have mine handy, but I think there are really only two things that can be asked, privliges and limitations of the ATP, and systems.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the replies. I have the PTS, I was just looking for any insight into the actual oral portion of the checkride with the examiner that ATP in RIC uses. I am certianly studying EVERYTHING.

My ATP oral was heavy on IFR and serious about the airplane systems. Know the airplane really well.

I was lucky enough to work with a fellow MEI going for his ATP and we would challenge each other with the details of the airplane we used for the check ride. It paid off very well the oral was a breeze for both of us

Good luck
