Jaybird, You'll be singing that song for some time to come. It's amazing that they are still operating in the black......or are they now? Actually I don't believe it's any one person in dispatch. I think every one of those guys (and gal) try the best they can, but the software or system they have in play to organize all of their contingencies is all wrong. Not to mention the general attitude is that all pilots are ignorant and many of their mistakes are usually passed off as pilot error. Remember, they are in the office....you are not.
One of their core values is "Open and Free Communication". Man, it's everything BUT that. Ask any pilot there and you'll get 20 dispatch horror stories with the same storyline. Great people that work there, great maintenance, but the trend towards how the pilots are treated is going down FAST. It follows suit with the supply and demand.
The practice of chartering out runs is increasing making them more of a shipping broker and many pilots are talking union. It's my opinion that if that happens, it will be sink or swim time.
