There is a rumor floating around MidAtlantic (USAIRWAYS EMB 170/175 Division) that the next ground school class, either next week or the week after, will have two MidAtlantic management types and 8 mystery guests from the fair city of Indianapolis.

Does anyone have a buddy in the training department at Chautauqua that has said they’ll bet out of town for a few months learning to fly the latest and greatest from below the equator?

Thanks.

Rumors are flying that Republic (sister company of Chautauqua) will fly the EMB170 for United. Announcement on Monday.

Anything other than rumors? If Republic were getting delivery positions right now, it would be USAir production slots. The reason for this, according to USAir management, is because GECAS (An arm of GE Capital) is worried about their 2.5 billion investment is USAir. So, management is telling the pilots it has to transfer these aircraft to USAIRWAYS Affiliate Express carriers to keep GECAS happy.

If USAir is too weak to get all 85 of it's EMB 170/175 order, and sends them to Republic to be flown in United's colors...... Who's on First?

Thanks storminpilot.

Contractually, GE Capital is bound to deliver those planes to US Airways unless their credit rating falls below B-. I don't see the two David's allowing that to happen. At worst they would sell pieces of the airline where bids have been received up to $400 million before that happens.

If the 170 rumor is true, delivery dates would be subject to going through the full mfg pipeline.

Joe Peeoznotz,

Contracts don’t mean much at USAir, especially when it comes to labor contracts. GECAS supposed threat of pulling the ERJ financing was the reason behind the MEC giving up on a MidAtalntic pay grievance that was awaiting the arbitrators ruling. In other words, the MEC snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

The negotiation committee spent this past week discussing a company proposal to transfer not only some of the EMB 170s, but a substantial number of the CRJs to affiliate express carriers. But at the same time mgt. wants the option of increasing the number of CRJs that go to the wholly owned carriers. I guess this is having you cake and eating it too. I can see management calling in the PSA MEC in for a friendly concession chat as soon as the mainline rolls over on this latest round of scope give backs.

It must be nice to have a home not built on shifting sand. I hope to join you there soon.
