Learjet Pilot (FL) 1/02
Foundation seeks young pilot wanting to build hours in our Learjet. Must have a CFI to train our CEO as "co-pilot" for weekly trips to PHX, DC, and CA from our Central Florida Headquarters. The one I saw also asked for the pilot to send in a photo. Seems a little disturbing to be asking for a young pilot and photo.
 
Years ago i looked a float flying job in the mediterranian. It required a well built handsome pilot that must send a picture....

Weird job requirement but whatever floats your boat. Literally.
 
I saw a job listed in Trade-a-Plane in the early 1990's for a Chieftain PIC in the islands . . . the ad ended with "also needed- skinny co-pilots".

And who could forget the ad for pilots in some god-forsaken African country that began "We need 10 more pilots" . . . . .

Amen G-200! What does an accident a few years ago dealing with pressurization issues have to do with this?
 
It was because the crew didn't have very much time in the aircraft, which could have contributed to the "pressurization problem".

It sounds familiar to the payne stewart situation: Central Florida, They want a Young Pilot to train a CEO as a "co-pilot"?
For long trips from orlando (sanford?) to PHX, and CA?

Besides, is a lear jet the type of aircraft a low time MEI should be instructing in? NOWAY!!!

I just checked avcrew.com and the add was taken off.

thanks for the back-up, low-time/inexperienced is what I was going for. Not that someone with low time couldn't do the job as long as every thing works.
( I hate being PC)
 
No Problem, that backward looking oxygen knob is confusing. I turned it OFF once when I first started flying the 35. The Chief Pilot at my company told me to turn it ON by twisting it like your accelerating on a motorcycle. Wrong Answer!! The only sure way to know is by testing the O2 masks for air. There is a purge valve when the 02 is shut off in the nose, you will have no air in the system. I was also told to turn the oxy mask on for 5 seconds to make sure it is not just "trapped" air in the system, but that is incorrect as well because of the purge valve.

The problem with this industry though is I can guarantee you there will be about 300 or so applications sent into this job!

Actually the captain on the Payne Stewart aircraft was hardly a low time inexperienced guy if I remember things correctly. From what I recall he was a retired military pilot so he was no stranger to high altitude operations.

Wasn't there a valve that was inaccessible from the cockpit that was closed when it should have been open?

I did some babysitting similar to what that ad describes. Would not recommend it to anyone. That aircraft deserves two professional pilots. Most CEO's are too busy running companies to devote the time and effort to staying safe and proficient in jets.
