A friend's department who shall remain nameless is on the verge of signing on the dotted line for a new plane. They are pretty sure they will go with a G450 but the F900EZ and Global 5k are still in consideration.

Occasional international but mostly just hauling the family around and general domestic business trips. No short field airports or anything more unusual than ASE/EGE.

Go for it guys... ;) TC

Well, since you have stated this:

"no short filelds"...you don't need the Falcon....

"ocasional international"....you don't need the Global...

That pretty much narrows it down for you.

but then again...rarely is any of this about a "need". It's about a "want".

So they should get what they want, based on your recommendation of what you think they need.

How's that?

If it were me, and it's not, I would throw out the GLEX since BAS pretty much tried to reinvent the wheel, and I think support from BAS pretty much sucks in comparision to the other two outfits.

I'd throw out the DA900, since you stated you're primarily doing domestic hauling. The DA fits right in the middle of the three on the range issue.

I'd go with Savannah. It's support, IMO, is unsurpassed. It's a robust airframe with engines designed for the long haul.

The Falcon..well, you don't need 4500nm, and if you can avoid the 731 carbon seals, why not.

Get the Gulfstream.

It's a Yak-mission if I ever saw one.

WSCod vs. Yak 40 vs. G450

If your friend can't get a position on a Legacy or a Yakovlev, he might consider the Gulfstream G450. I's a mature design offering class leading performance, excellent reliability and Gulfstream support.

Range, 8 pax, ISA, NBAA IFR Reserves:
4,350 nm @ M 0.80
3,600 nm @ M 0.85

Service ceiling: 45,000 ft.

T/O MGTOW, ISA, SL - 5,450 ft.
Ldg. MLW, ISA, SL - 3,260 ft.

Cabin:
40'4' L X 6'2" H X 7'4" W

Dispatch Availability: 99.75 %
Engine TBO: 12,000 hrs. !
DOC: $1744 hr.

Avionics:
Planeview Cockpit - Identical to G500/G550

Regards,

GV

We can all rest easy. We... er, I mean my friend's department signed the deal for a G450 yesterday.
