I was wandering if anyone had a good gouge for interview questions for a ANG upt board. Yes, I know about baseops.net. If I ask this question on there, I will just be told to use the search function. I have and still have not found anything good. If anyone has experience with a FW board, particualarly the 131st FW, PM me please. Thanks.

I interviewed at two different units, and they were pretty similar in that the questions were pretty generic, no technical stuff. Of course you will get the typical why us, where do you see yourself in 10 years, etc. I could tell at my second interview that they were definately probing my leadership abilities, views and capabilities. The only question that caught me totally unprepared was "so..... tell me a joke." (asked by a Southwest guy of course!) About a million came to mind, but every single one would have got me thrown out of the place!

For gouge, I'd say stick to the basic HR stuff. Know the unit's history and their mission. Sell yourself as a LEADER and a FOLLOWER. Don't tell them how much you want to fly airplanes, or how good you are at it, tell them that you want to serve your country and become an officer. Be ready for the old, "tell us about a time...." stuff.

I know thats not much advice, but it's been a long day and I still have 5 more beers to drink. Here is a snip from a post I had from a year or two ago about what I did for my interview. Take it for what it's worth...

Here's what I did, and I think it was a home-run, because I got selected.

I went to Kinko's (Econo Print, etc.) and got a plastic folder with the page protectors already installed in them (not the binder kind). I made a portfolio containing all of the required documents that the unit needed. (transcripts, letters of rec, etc) I also included a table of contents and introduction explaining the contects and purpose of the portfolio.

The front cover had a picture of a KC-135, had the unit name and said "Undergraduate Pilot Training Application for "MarineGrunt." The introduction page also had a portrait of me in my service uniform.

When you hand these out to the interviewers, tell them that you assembled this for their review both during and after the interview and that they may discard it at their discression. This way, after you leave, you really DONT leave. They are left with a reminder that they may bring home and read on the crapper. When they make their decision a few days later, you are still fresh in their heads.

I also included my military training and experience on one of the pages. I tried to fluff it as much as I could while still being fair and honest. If you have prior military background, use it as your major selling point, because this was HUGE with me.

And remember to send them a thank-you letter after the interview. Prepare it ahead of time so you can send them out the same day. Get all of the interviewers names and send it to them personally. Make sure you spell their names right!!!

Good luck!

Oh yeah... run a search for "interview" in the military forum. You will find a lot information.

Good luck.
