Mesa sues Delta to recover engines
Compiled from Herald News Services
Published: Saturday, August 09, 2008

Mesa Air Group Inc., a regional airline that flies mostly for larger carriers, sued Delta Air Lines Inc. to retrieve seven jet engines being held "hostage" in a financial dispute.
Without the engines, worth $25 million, Mesa would be forced to ground some flights if one of its 180 planes needs unscheduled maintenance. That, in turn, may jeopardize Mesa's contracts as a regional carrier for commercial airlines, including Delta, Mesa said in court papers filed Aug. 6 in U.S. District Court in Phoenix, Ariz.
Mesa said that the engines are being held because Delta is unhappy with a former maintenance agreement the two companies had until it was cancelled in June.
"Delta has stated to Mesa that it will continue to hold the engines as 'leverage' until all disputes are resolved," Phoenix- based Mesa claimed in its lawsuit.

This has turned into an all out war between Delta and Mesa.

sounds like JO's lawyers work round the clock to try and defend every little thing that goes on ..wouldn't want to be in their shoes .

Looks like they're going to lose delta sooner or later. Mesa is screwed, it's going to be a blood bath when they file BK. I'm sorry about the pilots but that management needs to suffer.

You get what you pay for...I wish DL could have figured this out before they signed on Mesa. Something be said for having the lowest bidder, I just hope DL learns from this and never signs Mesa on again!

Sounds like Delta is running out of other regionals to fly for them unless they just expand the wholly owned which it sounds like they are doing...Wasn't Delta wanting to sell off Comair last year?

I heard DL is also holding some of Mesa's lug nuts hostage also. Or was it that DL's got Mesa by the nuts?

Omg!!! Poor Mesa!!! We Love You!!!
Buh Bye!!!
