I use to jumpseat pretty often on the 737 both the classic and NG. I believe they went against the idea of the 318 is because its CASM is about the same as the 320 very much like the fact that the 737-700 vs. the 800 are about the same fuel burn, the reason for the 190 is that is had potential to save a lot of money and open up new markets that the 320 would have to run at a loss for a long time, for a good reason we can grow in some markets that Southwest can not due to the 737. That said many believed that the 190 was going to be different with mx issues because the 170 had already been worked through.....that is not the Embrear way they do not want anyone spoiled.

That said I think with the way the 190 has worked out and the fact that hind sight is 20/20....the 318 or the 319 would have saved money but I have no idea what type of deal we got from Embrear.

But we did get this cool commercial

I would never bring that commercial to anyone's attention ever again.

I second that!

"We do junk for joo! doobie doo dobie doo.....OOOOuuuhhh ah ah ah!!!!"

It was rumored that Airbus was going to pay for any penalties imposed on B6 if they were to tell Embraer to stick those planes where the sun don't shine. Of course if B6 cut a deal for 319's or 318's.
