Anybody read the report about the Turkish crash warning 737 pilots to closely monitor their altimeters due to the accident pilots receiving faulty info from the radar altimeter.

Apparently the autothrottles retarded (for appox. 100 seconds?) and the flare mode engaged. This has to be another case of "lets wait until the accident report comes out because the press don't have the facts quite right."

I would be surprised if the pilots sat there for that long during an autoland. Something doesn't seem right.

the preliminary report was posted on airliners.net It does look as though they were at idle for 100 secs. Vref -40 recovery was intiated but for some reason power was allowed to go back to idle, power was added again but it was two late. reports are saying the Left hand Radio altimeter was faulty reading -8 ft while they were at 1950 agl.(autothrottles read the left side for autoland?)

Trust the automation. Trust the automation. Trust the automation.

Never once did I hear "Fly the damn airplane."

Not sure if you guys are telling a sick joke or are uninformed, but all the pilots died in this accident (3 of them)
