I heard Ameristar might be making a bid to do the feeder flying for UPS out of DFW. Anyone else heard this?

beginning of the end?

When Relient started taking their airplanes off of the on-demand business and started scheduled contract flying they when out of business in about a year and a half. You can not make any money flying schedule, becasue it always goes to the lowest bidder who is working on a shoe string. a couple hick up's like an engine change and you have eaten up any profit. And then like Relient when the contracting company says well we don't need you any more, on a 30 day notice, you are out of business.

yes, but if Ameristar is hurting as bad as im hearing they are, they may just try it in order to keep em afloat.

...i am curious as to how they will be able to compete with the likes of Ameriflight (speaking of shoestringers) who basically has a lock on the UPS stuff...along with Martinaire that is.

It would be Ameriflights contract that they are bidding for. And there is plenty of money to be made in scheduled contracts as long as you keep eggs in other baskets as well. If AMF loses the UPS contract to AJI this would be the lesson to have learned.

I haven't heard anything on this. Not saying this isn't true, but the higher ups that I am buddies with haven't mentioned it. wing - we are hurting, but not as bad as our competion. Everyone is hurting greatly but when you check out flight exploer, we seem to have the most in the air. If we are about to throw in towel, everyone else will be to.

rumor mill

Heard from a crew member on the road, that Ameristar pilots are experiencing lay offs and benefits cuts, any truth to this rumor? Nothing like that going on a USA Jet, average pays are DA-20 F/O 34K, DA-20 Capt 60K , DC-9 F/O 40K, DC-9 Capt 75K, no cuts in any benefits, no roll back of recent pay increases, proceding business as usual.

ditto, ive heard this one ona and off for the past 2 months now. anyone verify this on here?

...ill go call a friend ;)

pilotyip - Nothing like that going on at USA Jet
According to Xfr8dog, USA Jet laid off 13 in May. How many guys laid off after Sept. 11 and how many planes parked. I know USA jet had a DA20 in LRD parked for over six months. Pilotyip, you can't tell me things are peachy keen over there. We are all hurting. Things are definetly tight. We laid off 5 with no talk of laying off anymore. Insurance benefits decreased but no pay cuts. It will definetly be interesting to see who is still around in the future. And no pilotyip, I am not saying your company will be one of them but I think there will be fewer of us.

Being that I keep up with friends there, I can tell ya this......From what I "hear", they let go 4 new ELP F.O.`s not long ago, the pay freeze is still in effect, and they have changed the days off rules as of recent. Now instead of being off at 6 a.m. on your day off, the company has 48 hours to get you home if you are on the road.

I also heard Tom W. and Fleet L. have recently joined the gay pilots association.

Just checked out flight explorer. Planes in the air at this moment:

Ameristar - 2 DA20s and 3 Lears
USA - 3 DA20s and 1 DC9
Kallita - 1 Lear
Cherry - none
Grand Air - none

Yes USA Jet lay offs

I thought that the lay off was already common knowledge, USA Jet laid off, 11 pilots on 5-23. Most of the pilots were hired in Mar 03 due to a very strong 1st quarter of 2003, we figured it was the start of the rebound, but it was not a start of a rebound as anyone in this business knows. The laid off was the preferred method of cutting payroll costs as opposed to an across the board reduction in pay, our loyalty is with our long term pilots, the guys who have stayed here over the pass few years, and almost all of the pilots supported the lay off option. With the planned start of our passenger operations this fall most of these guys will probably be back by the end of the year. No one except 4 DA-20 instructor Captains took any pay cuts, four of our DA-20 Capt. gave up their $1,000/mo instructor incentive because there is no training taking place. All Capts moving to the right seat are keeping their Capt's pay. We do this becasue we truly care about the peole who work for us. Times are tuff. For poco loco I am glad you elected to not come to work here, it sounds like you would not have been happy. Unhappy people set out bad vibes, can't have any of those bad vibes.

Re: USA Jet

Anybody who's been on these boards for a while knows that
Randy Hotton aka Pilot Yip is "FULL-OF-SH!T"!! he along with the other principals at USAJet JAY the CP and Ray the DO are known very well amoungst the Yip incestious family as the biggest Bullsh!ter's around...
so please take everything he says with a couple grains of salt!

You've been advised

Taz;)

Now Taz

I know your mommy raised you better than that, remember what she said if you can not say something nice in public don't say anything at all. You and Ralph still tight buddies? We are having an allumi meeting at the "wedge" see you then, good hearing from you.

I flew at USA JET up until recently being Layed off. Compared to where I came from and many freinds in the 135/121 Freight industry I believe that USA JET was by far the best place to fly for. I thoroughly enjoyed flying there and hope to return soon. Mean while I will enjoy flying the Airshow circuit this summer in a C-47 or a B-17 and a B-25 if I am lucky.

The Truth About PilotYip

A Man is always judged by his words.........so these are the words of Pilot Yip..."FORMER" Dir. of Training at USA JET........" I was an off the street Captain at Zantop, I was paid as a Captain I was trained as a Captain But Never flew one Revenue trip as Captain"
So now you have it Chief Bullsh!ter and wanabee..now Instructor pilot at USAJet.......that's scarery! Maybe you'll should call him and
express your concerns "you can call me anytime 734-547-7244."

Be Very Careful with this guy,
He's DANGERIOUS!!!!!!

TAZ

And if y'all don't believe me ask any Pilot at USAJet and
you will get the truth!

now wasn't that nice

Again did not your mother teach you proper manners, what is said in private is suppose to stay in private, your public post here is much less conciliatory than the private post you sent me. Gentleman do not aire their dirty laundry in public, but then again you have nothing to fear for you hide in the non-de-plume of TAZ and are not accountable by name for anything you say. I have had one goal since I came to work at USA Jet Airlines and that is to make it a better place to work, and that is not easy in our business. The goal was to become the best of the bottom feeders, and think we have made that goal. We are the highest paid in our segment of the industry with the most days off. 33K starting for DA-20 F/O with 9 day off per month, this is twice the starting of DA-20 Captains at other DA-20 non-skeds, 36K for DC-9 F/O's with 13 days off per month. We have had no turnover to other non-skeds since you left, except for training failures. I have chosen a higher road and am very public on who I am and this board has helped me stay in touch with many of my former flying buddies, would any current USA Jet pilots care to comment on Taz's BS?

Well pilotyip and Taz I think you two have just proven the saying posted elsewhere on this board about the similarities between arguing online and the special olympics.

Momma's Boy....

TAZ,

You sound like a little whinnie mama's boy. Why don't you post your name here, you seem to throw other peoples around freely. I am amazed some one with your attitude and arrogance has made it in this industry. If you are an ALPA member I definately would be ashamed to call you a brother. So, Taz why don't you post your name and quit hiding like a little B!TCH. Actually come to think of it you remind me the 5 year old kid next door, anyway quit hiding.

I haven't posted anything here in many months, but after reading most of your appauling post I couldn't help to reply.

Taz...Tsk, Tsk, Tsk

Taz,
If you are a pilot you should be ashamed of yourself!!!
This is supposed to be a forum for the free exchange of views and/or ideas. While you are free to disagree with someone here, you should keep your opinions as to someone's character to yourself. Those type of personal attacks have no place here and the professionals I know would never use this medium in that matter.

In addition, using someone's real name here while hiding behind a veil of anonymity is not only reprehensible, it is the act of a coward. Also, if what pilotyip said is true;that you revealed information here that he divulged to you in private, then you have no class whatsoever.

I am one of the aforementioned pilots who have been recently released by USA Jet. And, while I am not pleased with my current situation, I will jump at the chance to go back to what I know to be an excellent company. So, if you have some axe to grind with USA Jet or pilotyip personally, I suggest you be a stand-up guy and do it in the proper manner.

Now, I know pilotyip personally and find him to be a man of integrity. However, I do NOT know you. So I cannot comment on your character, except in the context of your comments here. But I can and will say, that from them, you do NOT seem to be a man of integrity. Having said that, I do not expect you to provide the apology Pilotyip so richly deserves, but I encourage you to do so nonetheless.

By the way...Do you kiss your mom with that mouth?

*back to the thread*

hold onto your hats people, it could get very interesting around here in the next month or two...but you didnt hear that from me ;)

I flew for USA jet, reliant and grand aire. I can tell you by far the best place to fly for was reliant. The reason they went out of business had nothing to do with not being able to pay the bills.

Any yes USA jet DO Ray m. is absolutely one of the biggest p.o.s., lying ass managers I have ever had to deal with.

But their is salvation I am not flying for the big brown and life is alot better.

Ameristar and UPS Deal

I don't see much Ameristar DA-20 flying, did they put thier airplanes on the rumored UPS scheduled runs?

Real quick on the bad mouthing here.

I am in a hiring pool with USAJet, I was interviewed by Randy (PilotYip), he seemed geniune to the good of the company, and the company as a whole seemed organized and geniune.

TAZ, we all are under assuming names here, you need to keep it that way.

If you got a beef, hit the little PM button down there.

.........................................

As far as Ameristar, they had some advertisments last month or so about pilot hiring, has something changed recently?

Pilot Yip and TAZ

If I was Pilot Yip I would be pissed that TAZ not only posted his name on the internet, but also drug it through the dirt. I think you two guys need to talk man to man, face to face, and let the chips fall as they may (or bodies). If not quit crying on this message board.
