Amerijet International to Acquire Antillas Air; Company Expanding In Central America

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--10/13/2003--Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Amerijet International today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Antillas Air, a privately-held U.S. cargo airline serving Central America and the Dominican Republic.

According to Pamela Rollins, Amerijet's Vice President of Business Development, Antillas Air will continue to operate its existing routes with no visible changes at this time.

"This transaction provides Amerijet customers with greater penetration into Central America, while Antillas customers gain access to Amerijet's worldwide transportation network including its multi-modal capabilities," said Rollins. "Antillas founder/owner Constantino Gorospe has been named Managing Director of Amerijet International's new division, Amerijet Central America, covering operations in Guatemala, Honduras, Salvador and Nicaragua, and will be instrumental in further expansion within the region."

Antillas Air was established in 1983 by Gorospe, and has operated all-cargo aircraft under long-term wet lease agreements. Headquartered at New York's JFK International Airport, Antillas has grown to operate 20 flights weekly from JFK and MIA International airports into Guatemala, San Salvador, San Pedro, Honduras and Santo Domingo, D.R. In Fiscal 2002, Antillas Air carried 45,000,000 lbs. of cargo.

With this acquisition, and other developments throughout 2003, Amerijet's annual revenues will exceed $100 million, and its number of U.S. employees will increase to 500. Amerijet is a full-service multi-modal transportation and logistics provider offering scheduled all-cargo transport via air, land and ocean to more than 550 destinations worldwide.

Founded in 1974, Amerijet International operates 56 offices worldwide and offers scheduled cargo service throughout the Americas and Canada, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia. Amerijet is headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and operates its primary hub at Miami International Airport, maintaining a custom-built 210,000-square-foot cargo handling facility there as well as airport and cargo facilities throughout its global service network.
