Go check out www.ameriflight.com, the website's been updated with some good info and they're looking for Lance drivers in Oakland. I've heard both good and bad things from previous pilots although if I was on the west coast I'd give them a shot. Seems like a good company with turbine upgrades.
I know someone in training who said the navajo upgrade is running about 2 months, and if you're willing to move around the turbine upgrade is roughly 10 months.
Apparently they are running another class in June.
Starting pay at Ameriflight is $1,700/mo on the Lance with pay raises beginning after 3 months. Upgrade into the Chieftain depends on your base. It seems to be the lowest in Oakland
( approx. 2 months) and highest in Phoenix..(currently at 4-5 months). Upgrade into the Turboprops can happen in under 12 months if you are willing to relocate somewhere such as Billings, MT.
Classes are being ran fairly often, atleast one a month, possibly more. One class is finishing up this week, and I'm sure there will be atleast one more this month and more in June.
Just for information, what's the best way to apply for Ameriflight? Fax, drop off your resume yourself at OAK (I'm local), etc? Also, I heard rumors that they hire only people on recommendation from the inside, is it true or anyone has a shot at it?
The best way to apply at Ameriflight is to fill out the online application. However, a letter of recommendation will do wonders for you. Almost everyone I know at Ameriflight had a letter of recommendation from someone at Ameriflight. It certainly helps you get the interview. I don't think that dropping off your resume in Oakland in person would do that much good, considering the pilot recruiter is the person you would want to talk to, and he's in Burbank.
