Could someone give me an opinion of AMF quality of life including days off, flying schedules, etc.

Thx.

C'mon people, give me a &^%$@#^ break!!

Quality of life at AMERIFLIGHT??

IT'S A 135 JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some runs you fly a lot, some runs you fly little and wait at a hotel or apartment all day/night.

This place will bend you over and hump you into submission. Get here, get the time/experience, and get the hell out!!!!!!!!!!!!

FG

I had a sweet QOL at Ameriflight for a 135 job. Granted, this was back in 2000.

I was commuting too. I flew a Lance up in OAK for a while till I got "outbased" to SAN. I had a sweet Lance run... 205A/219. Start around 12:30PM and go OAK-VIS-FAT-OAK-SBP-SNS-OAK. Done around 8 or 8:30. This was Mon-Thu run, 4 days a week.

Then I got outbased in SAN flying a Chieftain 4 nights a week. Start Monday night around 10, get back around 6:30 in the morning, done on Friday morning. That was fun flying too, and I was pretty darn happy with the schedule.

Some people may think I'm crazy, but if Aloha went Tango Uniform, I'd definitely be knocking back on AMF's door... I really enjoyed that type of flying.

That would have been perfect for me too as I'm from San Diego. They also used to have a Metro outstationed in SAN a few years ago. I would kill for that right now as I'm getting ready to transition to the Metro.

They stopped the Metro PHX run in 2001 when DHL pulled the contract. It was not too long before I left..

Yep, and now DHL has a 727 that covers the PHX-SAN-PHX trip the Metro did a few years ago. On the otherhand DHL gave PHX a Metro run that flies to Calexico, CA every day. I'm not sure if anyone has been there, but it certainly is not a fair trade!

Would any of you current Ameriflight pilots recommend taking the CFI job out of OAK? I am 21 and working my way up the food chain (300 short of 135 mins), and this seems like it might be a decent way to go to get there (other than OAK/SFO being so expensive on a CFI paycheck).

Also, what is the typical aircraft progression these days? Lance-Navajo/Cheiftan-BE99-Metro? About how long would it take to get a CVG, BNA or non-Cali base?

Seems like there is a wealth of info to be had in this thread. Sorry for not doing a search first. Any help is appreciated!
