I talked to the Ameriflight folks briefly in Atlanta at the AirInc Conference. They said someone with my hours could be making $45K/yr right off the bat as a single-piloted Capt on certain models of their twin turboprops.

1. Almost sounds too good to be true. Is it?

2. I've got about 550 multi-turbine pic and around 2000 single-turbine PIC (Navy T-34). Are they that hard and fast about the 750 multi-PIC mins they advertise for certain aircraft?

3. Are there any openings in Dallas?

4. Do they pay during training? How much? How long is training?

5. When does health insurance coverage begin?

6. I understand there are jumpseat privileges with SWA, T or F?

I filled out the on-line app. a couple of nights ago. I appreciate any help someone might have. Thanks.

1. sounds too good to be true. is it?

sounds right. starting metro pay is around 39k. second year is 42k.

2. are they hard and fast about the 750 multi- PIC they advertise for certain aircraft?

no, they can be somewhat flexible with that number based on other experience. it's getting harder though with insurance requirements.

3. are there any openings in dallas?

dallas may be the only overstaffed base in our system. things change quicly though.

4. do they pay during training? how much? how long is training?

no, new hires are not paid until they pass a 135 SIC ride, and then only a little bit. full pay after passing the 135 PIC ride. AMF will pay for your hotel room. training lasts 3-6 weeks in the turbine aircraft. just depends on the availability of sims, training captains, and so forth.

5. when does health insurance begin?

all benefits kick in at the end of your first 90 days. health benefits are excellent. vacation and sick days accrue on a monthly basis.

6. i understand there are jumpseat privledges with SWA, T or F?

True. we also have priveledges with horizon, and i think are working on some others.

7. filled out the online app....

good, now call burbank at least once every two weeks ( once a week would be better) and talk to jerry clark about how much you want to fly for AMF. 1-800-800-4538 is the number. clark is the head of recruiting, a great guy, and is easy to talk to. good luck.

I'd believe it. That's about right for Metro pay and we're always in need of Metro pilots.

2. I've got about 550 multi-turbine pic and around 2000 single-turbine PIC (Navy T-34). Are they that hard and fast about the 750 multi-PIC mins they advertise for certain aircraft?

You'd have to ask the recruiter, they'll generally give you an idea of where they'll put you right during the interview. I know they can waive those minimums for people in house.

3. Are there any openings in Dallas?

I know that they needed Chieftain pilots in Dallas, and if it's like the other bases, they always want Metro pilots.

4. Do they pay during training? How much? How long is training?

You do get paid during training and get a room (usually with a roommate). No pay for the first week of indoc, but once you pass the test you get hourly pay during the rest of your training. Not sure about Metro's, but during Lance training we we're basically paid minimum wage until we passed our initial checkride, then after that you're guaranteed 40 hours/week at your pay scale. Like I said I'm not sure about the Metro guys. Not exactly sure how long, but it seems like about a month for the Metro.

5. When does health insurance coverage begin?

3 full months after your initial checkride.

6. I understand there are jumpseat privileges with SWA, T or F?

We have official jumpseat privileges with SWA. I've heard that we're working on a deal with Delta, and a ot of the guys have had luck jumpseating on other airlines just by asking.

Try calling Jerry Clark to "check" on your application at 1-800-800-4538
