I was just watching mythbusters on the discovery chanel and they were exploring the myth where the runaway plane slices up the fuselage of another plane with its prop. The test plane was the hull of a retired Ameriflight plane!

What was even funnier was when the host, Jamie, tried to hand-prop a real 3 bladed lance to see if it was possible. Hillarious (and dangerous) to watch him go about this and fail.

N1655H

According to the FAA website, N1655H was deregistered on 7/27/2002. The reason cited was "aircraft destroyed."

Anyone know the whole story on this bird? The fuselage looked to be in great condition. Of course the wings, tail, and firewall forward were gone.

Hunh. <Off to check out the old logbooks.>

Not that this would be the first plane I ever flew that ended up in the boneyard. Still -- Mythbusters -- how cool is that?

It is possible to hand prop an injected lycoming. The trick is understanding
the "shower of sparks" (or 'Slick' equivilent) ignition system.
You have to have electrical power from the battery.
