I'm an ex freight dogg for AMF, and just got a memo from my present company about all the members of CASS, and Ameriflight was on the list. Kinda surprised they would spend the time/money to make it happen. So if I want to ride on AMF what is the procedure to 'list' and then how are my crededtials checked before the flight.

To ride on any CASS carrier, all you need is the following:
1. Company I.D.
2. FAA Certificates
3. Current Medical
4. Current U.S. Passport

The carrier will check the rest.

Unless you want to ride with us. Who do you work for cobalt? Unless its SWA, UPS, or ABX/ASTAR you're pretty much out of luck. While we were willing to shell out the cash to get on board with CASS we're apparently not willing to take on the added insurance liability of transporting non-company personnel, at least that's the word from the big wigs. According to the 2005 winter meeting we have no plans to pursue j/s agreements with any carriers besides SWA for the time being. Not only that, we can't even j/s on our own planes for personal reasons without approval from BUR on a case-by-case basis. Anyone besides SWA and DHL must be approved on a individual basis and will probably only be granted in an emergency situation. Since you used to work here I would call BUR and talk to SK who's Chief Pilot now or even Hazlett who handles the jumpseat coordination with FAA/TSA. Good luck, we'd be happy to have you. Maybe if enough people express interest they'll re-think the policy. Then again, probably not.

whale rider,

I work for a CASS carrier. I know what you need. What I asked was what is the specific procedure for ameriflight. do you work for ameriflight? when I worked there if a SWA pilot wanted a ride, they called ahead to BUR to get the OK. I was seeing if that was still the case. and my point is if I show up to the FBO in eureka, how are they gonna check my passport there? maybe the pilots call BUR at any hour of the day and they can check it out... i don't know... do you???

cool, thanks for the info. I was interested because a few weeks back a AMF pilot came on our forum and asked if they could jumpseat on us. our JS coordinator said we don't have a reciprocal agreement, so, sorry no. Just today we get a memo with all the CASS approved carriers, and AMF is on there. So I am confused, does this mean we can or can't take you guys/girls? I guess not still - since there is not agreement.

I was just curious why they would go to the trouble to get CASS if they would only use with with 1 or 2 carriers.

And your company must be in the CASS database and have your passport picture on file so the gate agent can pull it up. I got denied the js the other day cuz AMF didn't have my passport on file somehow.

I think the picture verification thing is a bunch of BS. I've been riding America West from the outset and I have never seen them pull up my picture.

yeah, well if you like that the amf policy is to go through your luggage and pat you down.

according to our JS coordinator the picture thing is only on FedEx (and maybe UPS).

Haha, you must be with ExpressJet. That was me asking over on the BTA forums. The impression I got from your j/s coordinator was that even though we are CASS since we are not officially on your reciprocal list we would more than likely be denied. I have yet to try it so who knows. As far as you riding on us - if you are not on our list (which right now is only SWA, UPS, and DHL) you must get special permission from management, which according to the last j/s bulletin will only be granted in an emergency or other important instance. The reason given was insurance liability or some other nonsense, they didn't really elaborate. Since our major presence is out west and SWA flys to all our base cities except CVG and BIL there isn't really much incentive for them to pursue agreements with anyone else I guess. I think they're also worried if we had more agreements people might be encouraged to try commuting, and that could lead to service failures if people got stuck.
