You really have to wonder where and when they got their information. If it is accurate, its probably because there's enough rich captains out there to make up for all the regionals.
For example you have one captain making $400K, and three other pilots representing the rest of the industry, the three other pilots would average $46K per year in order to get that figure. I'm curious what the median income would be.
 
It is old Department of Labor data. That having been said, the Corporate jobs in N.Y. must be pushing that number high. Jet Blue Captains sure don't make that kind of money.
