Guys, I had a quesiton from a younger brother. He was inquiring about the American Flyers VFR-IFR Pilot program. Does anybody have any experience with this or know anything about it? Costs/Timeframe/etc...? Thanks in advance!

American Flyers is a good school. Probably one of the most expensive choices, but the instruction is top notch. They have accelerated programs for all the courses. (10 day private and 10 day instrument) Not sure what the current costs are for the courses, but figure somewhere around $175/hr flight time and $65/hr for ground.

Having been an instructor at an American Flyers (albeit only a few months), my recomendation, if you do choose this route, would be to request one instructor and one instructor only. From my experience with them, students spent alot of time having to repeat manuevers for different instructors.

Really? My experience was very different ... like I said, two sides to everything.

I agree Blacksheep. I left it out inadvertantly, but in my opinion, American Flyers is an excellent school to learn at.
