From the owner of American Flyers (edited for brevity)

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We have decided to discontinue enrollment of flight students into 141 courses and instead use part 61. We will continue to enroll students into our 141 written courses and we will continue to maintain our 141 approved school status with the FAA. There will be the occasional exception (VA) where 141 enrollment will be required and we will handle these students just like in the past with the exception that the final APR will be conducted by either Hugh Lawrence or a local FAA designated examiner.

Please help in making this a smooth transition.

On behalf of Clark, Mike and myself.

Personal regards,

Don

P.S. It is really important to recognize the distinction of "not enrollling" students into 141 as opposed to "giving it up... " We are not discontining 141, we are just not going to use it, except for written courses and an occasional student who may require it.

Final APR = End of course Self Examining Authority Test

Hooray!...but, what's your point? It would be great if you said something like: "We have decided, after all these years of experience, that the restrictions and ineffective learning situations that occur when trying to teach a fluid, ever-changing skill like flying, as if it were in a controlled environment classroom, is impossible. Therefore, we are moving to the more flexible, student-needs, instructor-delivers, form of teaching a skill that must always address the individual student in the existing environment. Using Part 61 as the only Government Regulatory requirement to fulfill.
Wouldn't that be great?
