Just wanted to know about AE and them hiring 400 pilots this yr. What are competative times? FO pay? Any info about how long you might be on reserve? Any other info would be great!

They will be hiring at least 400 this year, possibly as many as 700. We are very short handed ! F/O pay is $20.97/hr with a 75/hr mo guarantee on reserve. The times have been coming down in recent months and the mins are now 1200/200. They are taking a few folks with the mins. Reserve varies by base/equip. The props have the fastest movement.

For info on this and other topics, go to Eaglelounge.com

is morale improving with the better upgrade times and movement

Upgrades and movement certainly go a long ways towards improving morale, but there are a few entrenched problems that continue to plague us.

-American Connection is still around, and the company still uses sly propaganda to insinuate that if we can't keep our costs down, they will get more flying.

-We had been on a reconciliation path with the APA until the current leader threw it all away in an attempt at a selfish "seat grab", conspiring with the company to violate our contract. We were vindicated by an arbitrator, but the sense of distrust between Eagle and the APA still exists.

-We are entering a new round of contract negotiations. One of the good things about our current contract is a very user-friendly reserve system. People actually have some control over their lives. Of course the rumor is the company now wants to get rid of it.

No company is perfect, though.

Amazing how times have changed. I hired on at Eagle in OCT 96, bid for SF3 CA in FEB 98, class in March 98. Problem was after I upgraded I was having to commute to reserve at JFK. They were so short they would JM me on my days off, and hold airplanes for me to get to JFK in ROC or SYR. I don't envy you guys.

Either you got your dates wrong or my memory is way worse than I thought. I hired on at AE in '94 and couldn't hold upgrade until late '98, though I did bypass 1 bid for the ATR on the rock a couple of months prior to my Saab CA award.

You are correct sir. Just checked my log book. Hired in OCT 97, Upgrade AUG 99. If I remember right I bid the upgrade at 18 months.

Hey Eagle guys.....NO FLAME, but how do you feel about those 20 fast track pilots a month coming from Flight Safety for the rest of the year?

Haven't heard anything about this. Doesn't sound like it really affects any of us currently on the property, though.

It's been done before and with very little negative impact from what i've heard. Granted, most came from other schools/universitys.

The only thing that should be of concern is that they can't attract more qualified candidates. Their reputation must permeate throughout the aviation community.........very sad.

Here is the deal. Starting this month AE will be giving Conditional offers of employment to those who enter this program. They pay 26k go through 10 weeks of systems, AE procedures, and LOFT. in a level D ERJ SIM. If they pass a checkride with AE at the end they are placed right into an AE class to do the same thing all over again. I thought Eagle was a little ambitious tho think that 20 people a month are willing to pay 26K to flight safety for a job, but we will see. On a side note, ASA runs this program on a smaller scale and all of there grads have worked out great. They all passed training with flying colors, and were much more profecient then the people that they hired off of the street.

NOt trying to flame at all but isnt this PFT?

A valid question. You won't find a definition for PFT in any official pilot's dictionaries, and everyone seems to have a different opinion. But PFT is generally considered to be requiring payment upfront for training that is REQUIRED in order to hold a job.

Under this FSI/Eagle program it sounds like 1) you are not guaranteed a job, only an interview 2) you still have to undergo line training and IOE with the company, and you do not have to pay for that and 3) if you meet Eagle's published minimums and want to apply through the usual process, you don't have to pay a dime.

There are many similar university and flight academy bridge programs where you pay for training that gets you to the interview, and the company pays for the line training.
